HOW WILL YOUR ROLE IMPACT FIRST COMMAND?
The Associate Programmer works closely with members of their team, participating in most aspects of the software development lifecycle, primarily in development and testing, to create solutions that meet the business need. They are self-motivated individuals that look for opportunities and are excited to grow their business and technical knowledge which in-turn allows their Agile team to deliver business value.
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
- Works with Engineer, Consultant and Architect roles to create business focused solutions for field uses, home office employees and clients
- Works with Engineer, Consultant and Architect roles to investigate, debug and resolve support issues
- Focused on development, testing and documentation sections of the First Command’s development lifecycle
- Adheres to coding and design standards/best practices
- Communicate and work alongside members of their team in support of their day-to-day work items
- Attends Agile team and development group meetings
- Key player in the Agile environment, participating in daily huddles, sprint planning, retrospectives, etc.
- Responsible for performing business and technical knowledge transfer with their peers
- Continued education to learn additional technologies, programming languages, industry best practices and tools that are needed within First Command
WHAT SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS DO YOU NEED?
EDUCATION
- Preferred – Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Programming or MIS
- Required (if no degree) – Accredited certification from a well-established trade school or extended learning program
WORK EXPERIENCE
- None – this is an entry level position
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Required - Knowledge of a at least one primary programming language actively used in First Command (C#, SQL, Angular, JavaScript, PowerShell, HTML/CSS)
- Preferred – Experience with web-based technologies and Windows OS
