  • Responsibilities

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE

    The HR intern will conduct management and employee interviews to research onboarding trends and provide recommendations for Dole Fresh Vegetables (DFV) in creating a comprehensive onboarding program where after implementation, the ultimate goal is to reduce turnover and increase retention.

     

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION

    • The intern will work closely with HR and departments in Operations to gain an understanding and document current onboarding processes.

    • Compose and collect employee surveys to better understand the employees personal experience within their first 90 days with Dole. Survey to include questions such as “Did you feel welcome, what do you wish you’d known in your first week, what would’ve made your first month better, and who was your most valuable resources during your first 90 days.”

    • Organize and analyze data.

    • Compose and collect management recommendations.

    • Document and evaluate the value of a buddy system for new hires.

    • Make recommendations on changes needed to the existing on-boarding process per department.

    • Create a schedule and topics to follow up with new hires during the first 90 days of employment.  For example, review concerns and positive experiences, training progress, and show case stories of employees whose careers began at entry level and progressed into lead or management roles.  Highlight ways Dole invest in employees.

    • Research onboarding trends, such as 90 day follow up, etc.

    • Document and understand benefits of onboarding orientations.

    • Develop and present a business recommendation of employee proposed onboarding orientation.

    • Other duties as assigned

     

    INTERNSHIP TYPE

    • 2021 12-week summer internship.
    • Paid internship.

    Required Skills

    SKILLS

    • Knowledge of all Microsoft Office Applications. Be at intermediate level or above with Excel and PowerPoint
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work in a collaborative and inclusive environment
    • Must be bi-lingual English and Spanish

                                                                                                                                    

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift (including overhead) and/or up to 15 lbs.

     

     WORK HOUR REQUIREMENT

    • 40-hour workweek, no overtime expected

    Required Experience

    EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

    • Fall 2021 Junior or Senior majoring in Human Resources or Business Administration degree with a concentration in Human Resources or related degree.
