    This role is with the Dole Fresh Vegetables (DFV) division.  DFV will provide INTERNAL CANDIDATES priority and consideration of their success in existing and prior roles as valid experience.

     

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE:

     The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible to provide first class customer service to employees at all levels of the organization.  The HR Coordinator drives our mission by supporting the HR team and working with employees across the business to ensure Dole is a great place to work for everyone. Our team achieves results by being innovative, driven, collaborative and trustworthy. This is a hands-on tactical role that provides support in the areas of workforce planning, coaching/development, employee engagement, HRIS system employee records, staffing reports and ad hoc projects as necessary. 

     

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION:

     

    • Reporting to the Human Resources Supervisor, this role assists with and performs the more intermediate Human Resources (HR) duties in the areas of policy interpretation, training, on-boarding, and off-boarding, data management, employment law compliance, and benefits and leave administration
    • Proactively identify opportunities and assess improvements to the employee experience and partner with the HR team to develop and implement innovative and lasting solutions
    • Answering general employee benefits questions and receiving and forwarding group insurance payments as required for auditing purposes.
    • Serve as subject matter expert for line management on attendance policy interpretation
    • Become adept in all systems needed to investigate employee attendance records and issues and assures accuracy of data.
    • Assists with workforce staffing levels and makes recommendations as necessary.
    • Ensure employee inquiries are answered and/or properly routed in a timely manner
    • Be able to pull reports and provide analytics related to people metrics
    • Support any other special projects as needed
    • Perform periodic audits of people data and work with HR Operations to correct
    • Coordinate with HR/Compensation/Recruiting on assignments for LOA, Light Duty, Modified Duty, and Restricted Duty
    • Provide daily headcount report to management and works with HR Supervisor on recruitment to fill open positions.
    • Assist in administering EDP and progression program for Maintenance and PMO’s.
    • Assist with coordination of the hourly employment process and new hire packet administration, including pre-employment processing of applicants (screening, referencing, I-9 verification) and completion of written employment verification.
    • Primary liaison with temp agencies and responsible for maintaining hours report and oversees temp to Bud transitions.
    • Maintain all HR files compliant and audit ready at all times.
    • EEO/Affirmative Action Plan data tracking for all hourly positions. Compliance with EEO goals and objectives, and management of the employment data base
    • Responsible for coordinating wellness, recognition and employee engagement programs and events.
    • Other duties as assigned.

     

     

    Required Skills

    JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:

    • EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED): 3 years minimum in a Human Resources administrative position; preferably in Manufacturing Plant environment.
    • EXPERIENCE (PREFERRED): 4 years minimum in a Human Resources administrative position preferably in Manufacturing Plant environment.
    • KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS (REQUIRED):
      • Ability to work in a high-paced office environment.
      • Has a high level of discretion and excellent judgement.
      • Take initiative with task completion and ability to propose process improvements
      • Detail-oriented with employee requests, auditing, file management and performing data entry
      • Proficient knowledge of HR/employment law and Cal OSHA / OSHA
      • Have exceptional customer service and communication skills and enjoy working with and for our employees
      • Exercise sound judgment, enjoy solving problems and feel comfortable working at varying paces
      • Flexible, adaptable and resilient in our current changing environment due to COVID-19
      • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently; ability to maintain positive working relationships.
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, time keeping systems, and HRIS.
      • Experience handling labor relations issues and disputes in a formal setting.
      • Ability to balance the needs of the employees with the needs of the business
      • Excellent multi-tasking skills

    LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS: 

    • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Ability to communicate with a broad range of the workforce, allowing for flexible and appropriate communication with various levels of employees.
    • Bi-lingual/Bi-literate English and Spanish (Required)

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    •  Work is performed in a typical office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, talk or hear to communicate, as well as maneuver around an array of equipment, bend, stoop and climb stairs. The employee must occasionally lift (including overhead) and/or up to 15lbs and able to occasionally work in a cold environment and moderate noise.

    WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Ability to work overtime and weekends, based on business needs.

     

     

    Required Experience

     

    EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

    • Associates degree or equivalent in related field is preferable or applicable experience.
    • PHR certification a plus
