    GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE

    The Facilities Manager will oversee all building-related maintenance and repair activities for west coast Coolers and will be responsible for the upkeep for all west coast  Warehouses.  Candidate will also be accountable for the overall execution and management over sustainability strategies across the cooler facilities as well as manage cooler(s) adherence to all environmental and safety compliance to meet local, state and federal EPA/OSHA rules and regulations as it relates to refrigeration and employee’s safety.

    Required Skills

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION

    • Responsible for the upkeep and repairs associated within warehouse facilities located in Yuma, Marina, Huron, and Oxnard.
    • Coordinate and manage outside contractors.
    • Bid, negotiate and prepare all service contracts related to contract labor, repairs and maintenance of equipment ensuring compliance with Dole guidelines.
    • Manage safety and financial performance of the department
    • Follow all Food Safety Requirements and GMPs as applicable to position
    • Achieves financial objectives by preparing an annual maintenance budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, initiating corrective actions.
    • Manage projects for multiple locations that are facilities-related, such as asphalt work, roof repair, dock doors, lighting, electrical and structural repairs
    • Participate in the preparation and administration of the facility maintenance budget. Submit recommendations, monitor expenditures, prepare cost estimates, submit justification for projects and facilitate the development of support documentation for projects.
    • Assist in planning, training and implementing safety policies and procedures with local, state, & federal EPA/ OSHA rules and regulations as it relates to employee safety.
    • Responsible for rolling out sustainability initiatives and projects for facilities in CA/AZ as they relate to emissions, energy, material and water conservation.
    • Ensure at scales for Facilities have been calibrated and follow county/city regulations.
    • Responsible for managing fire systems, camera vendors, security companies for all locations.
    • Upkeep of landscaping in all locations of responsibility.
    • Management of employees in all locations within area of responsibility.
    • Other duties as assigned

     

    Required Experience

    JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS)

    • 7+ years’ experience in a cooler or warehouse environment, including supervisory or management experience.
    • Experience in negotiating and managing contractors
    • Experience at compiling and following strict budgets
    • Experience in maintenance supervision or related field
    • Previous produce industry experience preferred.
    • Ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and be a problem-solver
    • Self-motivated and self-directed
    • Accurate and precise attention to detail
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work in a team environment, assisting team members when needed to accomplish goals
    • Experience in Facilities management, inventory control and systems management highly desirable.
    • Ability to work in a very fast-paced, high-pressure environment; computer skills using a variety of software programs.
    • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
    • Must have the ability to make decisions, maintain regular and acceptable attendance, follow directions, interact well with co-workers.

    INTERNAL & EXTERNAL RELATIONS

    Internal: Cooler or Warehouse Manager, Maintenance, Safety, Finance, Human Resources.

    External: Auditors.

    EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

    Bachelor’s degree in operations management or equivalent work experience.

    EMPLOYEE MANAGEMENT

    Hourly personnel (multiple)

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Ability to maneuver around an array of equipment, bend, stoop, climb stairs, work in a cold environment some of the time
    • Work is performed in a cool environment with an average temperature of 34 degrees F and concentrated chlorine and concealed ammonia may be present.
    • Work surfaces and floors may be wet. Employees are required to wear approved shoes and protective equipment. 
    • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. unassisted up to 1/3 of the workday, and 6 lbs. overhead as job demands.
    • Standing on a concrete floor, reaching, bending, stooping, and repetitive hand movements may be required. Moving machinery, including conveyor and forklifts are in operation in the immediate area.

    WORK HOUR REQUIREMENT

    • Ability to work beyond regular business hours and weekends, as needed
    • Must travel to Huron, Yuma, Oxnard
    • Flexibility to work varied hours is required
