GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Logistics Supervisor supports the department’s analytical needs, updating weekly key performance indicator metrics, preparing carrier performance review presentations, and performing ad hoc analysis as needed. This position supervises the work performance and people development of the Logistics Coordinators and Logistics Specialists. These roles are primarily responsible for tracking and tracing of loads, customer reporting, and freight invoice approvals. This position will also be a primary support to the OS&D freight rejection activity.
Required Skills
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION
- Supervise and develop the Logistics Coordinator and Logistics Specialists positions to ensure load tracking and freight pay activity is maintained and completed with accuracy.
- Perform advanced analytical data management within, but not limited to, Power BI and MS Excel to identify and communicate opportunities to improve lane cost and utilization to the Logistics Management.
- Perform cost/benefit and solution analysis on an ad hoc basis.
- Analyze on time pick up, on time delivery, and supplier commitment compliance to create supplier performance reviews for the Logistics Managers/Directors to present.
- Support the OS&D freight rejection activity to ensure all supporting evidence is filed. Analyze the supporting evidence to determine if the data supports a carrier claim and communicate to the Logistics Managers/Directors.
- Collaborate with transportation providers, customer service, sales, plant and warehouse operations to identify and deliver solutions that provide superior customer service.
- Maintain expertise, user proficiency, and knowledge of Dole Fresh Vegetable’s ERP and TMS systems.
- Hire, train, and develop Logistics Coordinators and Specialists as needed.
- Identify, support, and champion process improvements while helping to develop department SOP’s.
- Support the supplier sourcing needs within the department as business demands change and improved service solutions are needed to meet Dole Fresh Vegetable’s customers’ expectations.
- Maintain knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA)/Sanitary Food Transportation regulations and requirements, and other regulatory bodies with oversight in transportation and food safe practices.
- Follow all Dole Fresh Vegetable food safety requirements and current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) as applicable to this position.
- Other ad hoc duties and projects as assigned.
Required Experience
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS)
- Minimum of 3 years of verifiable data analytics experience as a Sr. Analyst, Sr. Planner, Sr. Specialist, Team Lead, or Supervisor preferred.
- Experience within a Supply Chain Management Team Lead or Supervisory position is a significant plus.
- Must possess a strong level of proficiency working with large data sets within Microsoft Excel to create pivot tables and formulas to produce a desired summary of KPI’s.
- Strong skills with other Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills are required.
- Ability to maintain organization and prioritization of work to meet deadlines is required.
- Must have the ability to make quick, comparative decisions within a fast-paced environment.
- Must possess knowledge and application of continuous improvement and corrective action practices.
- Must possess a general knowledge about how supply chain functions support and service each other across a consumer-packaged goods manufacturing organization.
- Prior experience in working with cloud-based Transportation Management Systems (TMS) a plus.
- Experience and knowledge of freight claims management within a temperature-controlled supply chain environment is highly desirable.
- Experience sourcing and negotiating with suppliers to support business needs a strong plus.
- Flexibility to work extended hours occasionally to meet business deadlines.
- Flexibility to support weekend work on a rotational basis.
- Capable of working independently with minimal direction.

INTERNAL RELATIONS
- Will interact with other Supply Chain functional groups, Shipping and Receiving operations, Materials Planners, Plant Schedulers, Product Management, Customer Service/VMI, Sales, and other Logistics teams
EXTERNAL RELATIONS
- Will interact externally with Carriers, 3rd Party Warehouses, Coolers, Growers, Customers

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent analytics, logistics, transportation, or supply chain operations work experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, talk or hear to communicate, as well as maneuver around an array of equipment, bend, stoop and climb stairs. The employee must occasionally lift (including overhead) and/or up to 15 lbs.
WORK HOUR REQUIREMENT
- Primary work schedule would be Monday through Friday with rotational support coverage on the weekends.
- Ability to work extended business hours and holidays as needed.
