  • Responsibilities

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE

    The Engineering Intern will complete data and root cause analysis to create and present an action plan for various plant efficiencies and capacity improvements. The intern will focus on reducing energy waste in various equipment and systems, specifically the nitrogen delivery and compressed air systems.

     

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS / DUTIES OF THE POSITION

    • Gain a basic understanding of the current process flow
    • Complete statistical analysis, including utilization of statistical sampling size for data collection
    • Development of needed or updated process flow diagrams
    • Successfully design and complete data and root cause analysis
    • Develop, recommend, and present action plan(s) and benefits based on analytical results
    • Create and deliver a final presentation to the President and executive team of Dole Fresh Vegetables.
    • Other duties as assigned

     

    INTERNSHIP DETAILS 

    • Summer 2023, 12-week internship
    • 100% onsite (not a remote internship)
    • Pay Rate:  $20 per hour
    • NO relocation or housing assistance provided

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk and hear on the phone.
    • Ability to maneuver around an array of equipment, bend, stoop, climb stairs, may occasionally lift up to 25 pounds, identify and distinguish colors, and work in a cold environment (35 degrees on Plant floor).
    • Ability to walk on uneven ground.

     

    WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

    Full time, 40-hour workweek, no overtime expected

    Required Experience

    EDUCATION LEVEL AND FIELDS OF STUDY

    Fall 2023 rising Junior or Senior majoring in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or Engineering Technology or related degree
