Maintenance Technician
GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE
Responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, testing, rebuilding and replacing equipment according to the company’s needs.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION
Install and connect power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment such as cutters, conveyors, packaging equipment and programmable controllers
Diagnose and test malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replace damaged or broken wires, cables and mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment
Replace electric motor bearings and rebuild drum motors
Assist with design and layout of wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings
Converse with equipment operators to ascertain problems with equipment before breakdown, and to determine if breakdown is due to human error or mechanical problems
Align, adjust, and calibrate equipment according to specifications
Record repairs, calibrations, and Preventative Maintenance Inspections on Work Orders and worksheets
Perform mechanical repair work as needed
Perform work on utility equipment as required
May be required to weld and fabricate as necessary
Any and all other duties assigned by your Supervisor
Required Skills
** JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES**
Required Experience
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 1 year previous experience in manufacturing, electrical, and/or mechanical applications. Previous experience will be an important consideration of assumed knowledge.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION
One year certificate from college or technical school, or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must successfully complete required Work Keys and in-house skills assessment.
