  • Responsibilities

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE

    This position will be responsible for handling the buying of supplies and services for Dole’s Value-Added  manufacturing facilities.

    Required Skills

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION

    • Process purchase requisitions and purchase orders in JD Edwards system for Doles Value-Added Plants and/or other branch plants as required.
    • Analyze daily requisition reports for compliance with contracted source and pricing.
    • Learn and master JDE for procurement.
    • Streamline and improve processes to reduce manual work (Requisitions/number of PO’s, etc.) implement additional catalogs and automate data/processes.
    • Create and maintain supplier pricing catalogs in the JD Edwards systems.
    • Review and assign appropriate taxation class and rate on all purchase orders.
    • Schedule shipments, monitor and coordinate the deliveries of all supplies and services.
    • Track and report status of open orders, process RMA’s and resolve order and invoice discrepancies.
    • Use and develop standard operating procedure documents for all purchasing processes.
    • Work with Accounts Payable department to solve invoicing discrepancies; use BPMS system.
    • Support RFP Calendar, Category Manager, and Director; Review and analyze quotations; recommend suppliers to management with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness.
    • Develop sourcing strategies, determine alternative sources of supply, and initiate cost reduction projects.
    • Interact with Dole Management and our supplier organizations. Act as liaison with internal customers and external suppliers.
    • Analyze pricing data for Purchasing, Finance, and Operational departments for budgetary purposes.
    • And other duties as assigned.

    Required Experience

    JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS)

    • 3-5 years of progressively responsible procurement experience, 3+ years of data analysis (including use of ERP queries and analysis using Microsoft Excel)
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Intermediate to advanced computer skills in Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
    • Experience using JDE (AS400) desired.
    • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; detail oriented and flexible.
    • Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, work in a fast-paced environment, exercise mature judgment and maintain strict confidentiality in highly sensitive areas.
    • Knowledge of all standard purchasing policies and procedures.
    • Strong analytical thinking and planning skills
    • Keen business acumen and customer-focused

    INTERNAL & EXTERNAL RELATIONS

    Internal Relations in this role include:  works with internal staff including internal customers in agricultural operations as well as salad processing facilities, cooling, quality, safety and supply chain teams.

    External Relations for this role include:  outside vendors tasked with providing components and services, customer quality representatives.

    EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

    College Degree preferred.  College-level course work in Business, Finance, or related field desirable.
