  • Responsibilities

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE

    Supervise Production and processing activities to ensure all production goals are met on safety, food safety, cost, and yields within their assigned area.

     

     

    Required Skills

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION 

    • Maximize the effectiveness of approximately 80 hourly employees, equipment, and materials to process and package products within planned schedules at a minimum cost
    • Responsible for maintaining excellent quality, sanitation, safety and production standards
    • Train employees on job responsibilities and goals; hold accountable for results
    • Ensure availability of adequate supplies and materials needed to meet and exceed productivity standards
    • Inspect production equipment on a regular basis, arrange for any maintenance needs to prevent downtime
    • Maintain good communication with supervisors in other areas and on other shifts to ensure smooth running of production/processing throughout the Plant
    • Manage adherence to GMP, Safety, and all other plant policies
    • Follow all Food Safety Requirements and GMPs as applicable to position
    • Ensure the integrity and continued operation of the food safety system in the event of organizational or personnel changes within the company or associated facilities
    • Support special projects and other duties as assigned

    Required Experience

    JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS)

    • 1-3 years supervisory experience in a production environment involving efficiency improvement/monitoring with strong safety and quality management desired. Food processing experience preferable.
    • Strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage, motivate, and train people.
    • Excellent oral and written communications skills,
    • Bilingual/Bi-literate preferred 
    • Dynamic, hands-on ability to work in an extremely fast-paced, team-oriented food-processing environment.
    • Must have the ability to make decisions, maintain regular and acceptable attendance, follow directions, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow posted work rules/procedures and to accept constructive criticism.
    • Flexibility to work on a variety of shifts.

     

    _ INTERNAL & EXTERNAL RELATIONS_ 

    Internally: Operations Manager, Materials, Supervisors and Foremen, Maintenance department, and Quality Control, Finance, Human Resources.

    Externally: Auditors

     

    EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

    Required: HS Diploma or equivalent

    Preferred: BA/BS, in Operations Management preferred or 5 years related work experience.

     

    EMPLOYEE MANAGEMENT

    Supervises between 20-80 direct reports (production employees). Supervising and directing the workforce to ensure all production goals are met: safety, food safety, cost, yields.

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

    Ability to maneuver around an array of equipment. Must be able to work in a cold environment. Will have some exposure to fumes and airborne particles. Ability to travel. Able to occasionally work in a cold environment (35* on Plant floor).         

     

    WORK HOUR REQUIREMENT

     Ability to work long hours, weekends, and rotating shifts required.
