This is a part-time, temporary position with no benefits except Colorado State retirement, PERA.

GENERAL SUMMARY
PROGRAM INFORMATION: Gateway to College at Front Range Community College is a program that works in partnership with local area school districts to serve youth, 16 to 21 years old, who have dropped out of high school or are significantly behind in credits and unlikely to graduate. The dual credit program allows students to earn a high school diploma while progressing toward a college degree or certificate. Gateway to College operates as a program within a community college, and accepted students take all of their classes on the community college campus. FRCC Gateway to College is part of a national network of over 40 programs across the nation working together to solve the dropout crisis.
FRCC Gateway to college is looking for a College Composition and Reading (CCR092) instructor to join its team and teach CCR092 to two groups of first semester Gateway to College students. Each “cohort” of students is part of a “learning community” in which they all take developmental education courses to prepare and eventually enroll in transfer level college courses. The instructor of CCR092 works on a team of professionals (math instructor, college readiness instructor/resource specialist) to support 2 learning communities of students through a 15 weeks semester.
JOB SUMMARY/BASIC FUNCTION: The Gateway to College Composition and Reading (CCR) Instructor job is a part-time faculty position on the FRCC Westminster campus. The GTC CCR Instructor teaches 5-10 semester hours of College Composition and Reading (CCR092), a developmental English course that helps students develop skills in the following areas:
The position will coordinate with other Gateway to College staff and instructors to ensure student success within the program. This position reports to the Director and Assistant Director of the Gateway to College program at the FRCC Westminster campus. THE GTC ENGLISH INSTRUCTOR POSITION IS A SEMESTER LONG COMMITMENT, TO BE REEVALUATED AT THE END OF EACH SEMESTER.

Required Experience
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
A minimum of two (2) years classroom experience teaching high school/college developmental reading and writing courses to students at-risk of academic failure is required. Experience working with diverse students preferred. Demonstrated experience developing curriculum; ability to integrate curriculum with experimental teaching methods; knowledge of curriculum instruction, assessment, and learning theory. Experience with use of multimedia technology for instructional purposes.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Experience working with at-risk students in a targeted population of 16-20 year olds desired Experience as a high school English, writing, and/or reading teacher in the public school system Experience teaching in the college environment preferred Computer skills (MS Office) Working knowledge of learning management system (Desire2Learn) Excellent oral and written communication skills
