GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE
This position is responsible for leading and directing the daily operations in the packaging area to ensure production standards are met while producing Safe, Quality Food.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION
- Assure paperwork is complete, correct, and timely
- Follow schedule sequence, ensuring on-time starts and efficient changeovers
- Monitor film, carton and rework yields
- Monitor changeover and machine downtime
- Achieve schedule attainment within prescribed standards
- Achieve accuracy on harvest estimate
- Monitor breaks and lunches
- Train employees to meet operating procedures
- Assure baggers are meeting standards, such as up-time efficiencies, bags per minute, and % of standard
- Conduct tailgates and lead exercise routines at shift start each day
- Any and all other duties assigned by your Supervisor

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
- EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of production processes is required. Previous experience in a food processing facility is desired.
- SKILLS: Must have good communication and computer skills. Must be a self-starter and possess initiative. Must be able to lead and direct.
- ADDITIONAL: Hands-on ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented food processing environment. Required to work independently and with limited supervision. Must be able to maintain regular and acceptable attendance, follow directions, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow posted work rules/ procedures.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION
Must have HS Diploma, GED, or demonstrated ability to perform required tasks.

Leads and directs between 50-60 hourly employees.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is performed in a cool environment with an average temperature of 34 degrees F. Concentrated chlorine and concealed ammonia is present. Work surfaces and floors may be wet. Employees are required to wear approved shoes and protective equipment. Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs. unassisted up to 1/3 of the workday, and 6 lbs. overhead as job demands. Constant standing on a concrete floor, reaching, bending, stooping, and repetitive hand movements may be required. Moving machinery, including conveyor and forklifts are in operation in the immediate area.
