Position Summary:

The Cable/Fiber Install Technician is responsible for successfully installing, changing, repairing, and disconnecting cable services for Optimum/Vexus residential and commercial clients. Job duties include installing new cable systems, troubleshooting current systems that are causing problems, repairing voice and data cables when necessary, and educating customers regarding the use of installed products.

Performance Objectives:

Installing, maintaining, and repairing cable infrastructure.

Performing maintenance on existing cabling systems.

Testing newly installed or relocated cables according to company specifications.

Installing cable boxes, routers, and internet devices.

Ensuring all cables are neatly tied and bundled according to safety regulations.

Completing electronic paperwork such as timesheets, vehicle inspection reports, and work orders.

Capabilities/Key Competencies:

High school diploma or GED

Previous work experience as a cable technician (not required)

Valid driver’s license

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and fix any issues that may arise on the job

Ability to work at heights

Ability to install complex internet and television equipment

Ability to work in cramped spaces

Experience:

Preferred one or more years of professional experience with cable/internet provider.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift at least 85 lbs or more.
