Job Summary: The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Downtown Portland is seeking a dedicated and talented Line Breakfast Chef to join our culinary team. The Line Breakfast Chef will be responsible for preparing and cooking breakfast dishes, ensuring high-quality and consistent presentation, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen. This role requires a passion for breakfast cuisine, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation:
* Prepare and cook breakfast menu items according to established recipes and standards.
* Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented in a consistent and appealing manner.
* Follow portion control guidelines and minimize waste.
- Station Management:
* Set up and stock the breakfast station with necessary supplies before service begins.
* Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout the shift.
* Ensure all food items are stored properly and in compliance with food safety standards.
- Quality Control:
* Monitor food quality and presentation to ensure that breakfast dishes meet the hotel's standards.
* Assist with the daily preparation and production of breakfast items.
* Perform regular quality checks to ensure freshness and proper seasoning.
- Collaboration:
* Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient breakfast service.
* Communicate effectively with the Executive Chef, Sous Chef, and other team members.
* Assist with the training of new kitchen staff as needed.
- Safety and Sanitation:
* Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe and clean working environment.
* Follow proper food handling and sanitation procedures.
* Ensure that kitchen equipment is maintained and report any malfunctions to the Executive Chef or Sous Chef.
- Additional Duties:
* Participate in kitchen meetings and training sessions.
* Assist with inventory management and ordering supplies as needed.
* Perform other related duties as assigned by the Executive Chef or Sous Chef.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Breakfast Chef, Line Chef, or in a similar role in a high-volume kitchen.
- Strong knowledge of breakfast cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety standards.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A positive attitude and a commitment to providing high-quality food and service.
- Culinary degree or relevant certification is preferred but not required.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
