    DoveLewis Emergency and Specialty Animal Hospital is hiring a full-time Exotics Veterinary Assistant (Level 1) to join our Exotics Team.

    As an Exotics Veterinary Assistant , you will be responsible for handling and providing husbandry for a variety of exotics species while assisting the veterinarians and technicians as needed. The ER exotics service sees a combination of appointments, surgeries, and walk in emergencies. You will be assisting with animal restraint, triaging incoming patients, maintaining a clean and sterile work environment, laundry services, stocking the hospital, assisting with lab work, providing aftercare for deceased animals, performing surgery prep, and providing our clients with a top-notch experience.

    A genuine love of and respect for all animals is required, as is an appreciation of the human-animal bond.

    Wage: $19-$22 hourly, plus overnight and weekend differential for applicable shifts.

    Schedule: Our Exotics Veterinary Assistants work four, ten-hour shifts per week. This is a swing shift, scheduled Sunday - Wednesday. This position will be scheduled for 40 hours per week.

    What are we looking for in a candidate?

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Valid driver's license in Oregon or Washington for driving the DoveLewis transport van
    • Familiarity with a variety of exotic species including experience with handling and providing husbandry. Personal and professional experience will both be considered.
    • 1+ year experience working in animal care work such as at a veterinary clinic, kennel, shelter, or animal daycare.
    • Self-driven and team oriented with a willingness to assist in other departments as needed.
    • Any suitable combination of experience or education may substitute for the above
