Job Description
Downs♦Stanford, P.C. has a immediate openings an experienced insurance defense litigation paralegal in our downtown Dallas office. Preferred candidates will have a minimum of 3-5 years of litigation experience managing multiple cases in all aspects from intake through trial. Candidates will be expected to immediately begin working with a variety of cases of all levels of complexity in a fast-paced, high demand environment. Salary is commensurate with experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (VARIES WITH EACH POSITION)
Manage large caseload with multiple attorneys and team members
- Maintain calendars and docket / maintain and follow-up on deadlines
- Draft pleadings, discovery responses and prepare document production with minimal supervision
- Review, analyze and summarize large volumes of medical records and other evidence
- Communicate with clients, claims adjusters, opposing counsel, courts, experts
- Schedule depositions, hearings and mediations
- E-file through eFileTexas and PACER
- Meet or exceed monthly billable hour requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrates a high degree of commitment, honesty and integrity in all aspects
- Minimum of 3-5 years of insurance defense litigation experience
- Paralegal certificate and/or college experience preferred (Paralegal positions only)
- Able to work with a team in a collaborative environment or independently
- Critical thinking that displays initiative and adaptability
- Self-motivated, organized, detail oriented, efficient, hard-working
- Strong communication skills, professional, prompt, excellent attendance
- Proficient with Windows and Microsoft Office 2010-2016, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and Corvel WordPerfect
- Knowledgeable of Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome web browsers, PDF compatible software, and related productivity applications
- Experienced with Sage Timeslips and LexisNexis Time Matters, or similar billing and calendaring software a plus
