Job Description

The Downtown Berkeley YMCA Aquatics Department is currently hiring part-time lifeguards. We are looking for responsible and reliable individuals who can work 6-29 hours/week in a fast-paced and diverse environment. Under the direction of the Associate Aquatics Director of Lifeguards, lifeguards are responsible for quality surveillance of aquatic activities, enforcing all policies and procedures, and for responding promptly to any emergency situations in or around the water. 

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR LIFEGUARDS:

• Minimum of 16 years of age
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer
• Standard First Aid
• American Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguarding

• Patience and ability to communicate with members of all ages and diverse backgrounds

Additional Information

This is a part-time position.

For lifeguard applicants, we have a specific need for early weekday mornings and weekend afternoon guards but other availability is also welcome.

COMPENSATION:  $18-19.00/hour, DOE and certifications
