    Songtrust is seeking an experienced Lead Data Architect to oversee the design, implementation, and management of the company's data architecture, models, workflows, processes, databases, and technologies.  This is a hands-on position with daily activities that include strategic planning, new system development, team leadership, and tactical response.  This role will be responsible for creating new and improving existing data architectures and implementations, with continuous goals of automating data processes, increasing data workflow efficiencies, facilitating transactional performance, ensuring data availability, supporting scalability, and mitigating data security risks. This position offers the ideal candidate an opportunity to be a key leader and influencer in the company's strategic data technology and product roadmap. 

    This position can be located in any of our offices in the following cities: New York, Portland, Nashville, Los Angeles

    WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING: 

    • Define, lead, and manage the company's Data Team, data architecture, data platforms, data assets, data lifecycle, data quality, and data technology strategy
    • Evaluate, design, implement, and manage scalable, cloud-based databases, frameworks, pipelines, integrations, and environments that facilitate the secure, automated management, workflow, governance, and management of structured and unstructured data across internal systems, external customers, and 3rd party data providers
    • Develop, document, test, and manage logical and physical models as well as data lifecycle strategies and data-related SOP
    • Create and manage data backup, recovery, and data retirement strategies
    • Assess, document, and articulate existing data architecture to identify opportunities for improvement and mitigation of technical debt
    • Maintain, improve, and expand the Songtrust data exchange platform, a data management and workflow pipeline system for integrating musical works and sound recording data and multimedia
    • Create and Maintain test data, and Perform/Test upgrades, code changes, and bug fixes
    • Collaborate with business, technology, and product teams to deliver projects and initiatives such as new data products, functionalities, upgrades, and integrations
    • Participate with other company department leaders on roadmap strategy and prioritization
    • Work with the technology teams to plan, prioritize, and manage technical backlog of data deliverables
    • Collaborate to deliver proofs-of-concept, and lead implementation projects
    • Oversee ingestions of music metadata and multimedia assets from creator, licensees, and record label clients
    • Manage daily monitoring of data queues and troubleshoot/resolve errors
    • Be a key data technology subject matter expert for our clients, external data providers, and internal teams
    • Manage and mentor data team members to foster and promote their achievement and excellence

     

    YOU ARE / HAVE: Required

    • A minimum of 6 years of relevant data architecture, data engineering experience in an enterprise production environment
    • Bachelor's degree (Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science) or demonstrable equivalent experience in a professional engineering or technical discipline such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics
    • Expertise in RDBMS (PostgreSQL experience preferred) and at least one other relational or non-relational data platform (e.g., MongoDB, Snowflake, Redshift, etc.)
    • Experience with data modeling, performance tuning, scalability/capacity planning, and backup/recovery
    • Experience designing, deploying, and managing production enterprise data on AWS using some/all of the following AWS services:  S3, EC2, RDS, DynamoDB, Lambda, Glue, Elasticsearch
    • Expertise in writing efficient and reliable SQL and Python code
    • Experience with designing, developing, and managing custom ETL/ELT pipelines
    • Experience creating, implementing, and using REST APIs
    • Experience with automating the processing of XML, JSON, and delimited data files
    • Experience with Data Warehouse design, BI reporting, and data visualization tools
    • Experience with Agile/CI software development methodologies
    • Must think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges and opportunities
    • Must be proactive in problem solving and mitigation
    • Must be committed to develop and expand knowledge and proficiencies for self and others
    • Must be proactively communicative and possess strong verbal and written communication skills in English

    Preferred

    • Experience with music data and music data standards (DDEX, CWR)
