Our busy, dynamic mid-town (central Austin) Cardiology Practice seeks a FULL TIME Clinical Cardiac Specialist/Medical Assistant to assist our doctor in providing exemplary cardiac care, by taking and documenting vital signs; performing EKGs, Treadmill stress tests, and ankle-brachial index tests; and performing thorough intake of patients in the clinic setting. Other job responsibilities include patient education; advising patients of hospital instructions; assisting with inventory/supplies; and placing holter monitors on patients. Experience with Athenahealth or other electronic medical records is also helpful, but not required. We have a second office in Lakeway that will require the candidate to go to that location one day a week as well. Core functions of this position include: 1. Take vital signs, perform medication reconciliation, and document the patient's problems, symptoms, medical history, and history of present illness in the electronic chart; 2. Perform treadmill stress tests, ABIs, and EKGs; 3. Notify patients of test results and schedule those who require follow up care; 4. Assist with ordering medical supplies; 5. Process and appropriately label patient records as they are sent to our office via electronic facsimile; 6. Place holter monitors on patients and check online data base to upload holter reports to the patient's chart; and 7. Be able to work independently, and as a team player. THIS IS AN IDEAL JOB FOR A RECENT COLLEGE GRADUATE interested in eventually going to medical, nursing, or PA school and who wants hands-on, meaningful clinical experience in the healthcare field for at least one year before entering professional school. Experience in a medical office is valued, as is experience in cardiology or other-related healthcare field, but these are NOT required.
