    Position Summary:

    We are seeking an experienced Drafting Manager to lead our drafting team in producing precise, high-quality drawings for tapered tubular steel transmission and substation structures. This role is responsible for managing drafting schedules, reviewing designs for manufacturability, and ensuring drawing packages meet the highest standards of accuracy. The Drafting Manager will mentor team members, maintain drafting standards and workflows, and collaborate closely with Engineering, Project Management, and Manufacturing to align deliverables with project requirements.

    The ideal candidate will hold an associate or bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field (or possess equivalent experience). Candidates should have at least 7 years of drafting and design experience—including 3 years in a management role. Proficiency in CAD software, knowledge of AWS weld symbols, and strong leadership and organizational skills are required. Experience with Autodesk Inventor and utility steel pole design is preferred.

    Job Duties:

    • Lead, mentor, and develop the Drafting Department to achieve team and company goals.
    • Manage drafting schedules and ensure timely, accurate deliverables for steel manufacturing projects.
    • Review engineered designs and specifications for constructability and manufacturability.
    • Check and approve drawing packages prior to release for fabrication.
    • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve drafting standards, workflows, and best practices.
    • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Project Management, and Manufacturing to align deliverables with project requirements.
    • Drive the adoption of new digital drafting tools, CAD software, and model-based practices.

    Education and Experience:

    • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
    • Minimum of 7 years of progressive drafting and design experience with utility tapered tubular steel poles for transmission lines and substations, including 3 years in a drafting management role.
    • Proficiency in CAD software; familiarity with Autodesk Inventor is a plus.
    • Solid understanding of AWS weld symbols and structural component detailing.
    • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
