DRAGONFLY TRANSITIONS IS HIRING FOR A NIGHT MENTOR POSITION IN KLAMATH FALLS, OREGON!
Dragonfly Transitions looks for bright, self-confident, and motivated people to be mentors and role models for young adults in transition to healthy living. Mentors serve as role models and support students in their quest for independent living skills, personal growth and emotional maturation.
Dragonfly Transitions program emphasizes independent living, individual, group and family therapy, substance abuse and mental health counseling, and experiential learning. The purpose of the Mentor position is to provide supervision, education through experience, and leadership to program participants.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide overnight supervision and support to Dragonfly Transitions students.
- Verify that students are present at curfew and check throughout the night (all buildings) that they have remained in their rooms and are accounted for.
- Provide 1:1 support if a student needs to talk.
- Contact the "on call" staff if there is a crisis or extra guidance is needed.
- Work with mentors and the clinical team to understand individual student's treatment plan and program expectations.
- Participate and direct daily program components including supervising daily living tasks and holding boundaries around program expectations, i.e. curfew, quiet time, and chores.
- Provide supervision, leadership, and role modeling for students.
- Attend staff meetings a minimum of once per month.
- Make sure all facilities and vehicles are locked and secure for the night.
- Cleaning duties in the staff offices.
- Other special duties/projects as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records, following HIPAA and organizational guidelines.
- Oversee logistics while holding the "big picture" of the program.
- Undertake physical aspects of the program including, hiking, backpacking, building shelters, cooking, etc, while on overnight trips and/or weekend activities.
- Ensure safety by supervising students and working with other staff while being accountable for Dragonfly's policies and procedures.
- Facilitate planning sessions with the staff team and mentor team as needed.
- Take primary responsibility for ensuring high quality of the student's experiences.
- Drive up to a 12 passenger van with trailer.
- Represent Dragonfly to students, parents, educational consultants, and the public at large.
- Collaborate as needed with leadership team around itineraries, participant screening, staffing decision, logistics, and significant program related business (i.e. early departures, medical opinions, etc.)
- Accomplish all tasks as appropriate.
- Be available to step in for other mentors and staff members as needed so students and parents receive the best service possible.

QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND LICENSURE
High School diploma required, Bachelor's Degree or relevant life experience preferred.
Knowledge of farm operation and farm animals a plus, but not required.
Knowledge of negative patterns and thinking errors typically found among young adults struggling with mental health issues. Ability to interact with participants productively and professionally, to grasp "windows" of opportunity, to teach life skills and self-awareness concepts.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
OFFICE AND COMPUTER SKILLS
Ability to use email, internet search engines, word processing software, and office equipment such as printer, scanner, fax, and copier.
