On behalf of our American construction client, we are recruiting an
Estimator to be based in St. Louis, MO.
Our client specifically wants people with structural steel experience
and construction & engineering backgrounds. They prefer local
applications, or from the Midwest Region.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Estimator/Project Engineer with experience in the steel fabrication and
erection industry to join our clients Fabrication division. The primary
function of an estimator is the take-off of materials from customer’s
design drawings. The final product will be included in all job/contract
estimates. Key skills to identify labor, material, and time requirements
by studying blueprints, specifications, and related documents are
critical. Computes costs by analyzing labor, material, and time
requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following are primary responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned
as needed.
· Create take-off(s) from structural drawings on new projects as
well as change orders on existing contracts.
· Assist in preparing price estimates, including developing a
takeoff of all labor and material required for the project.
· Review specifications and scope of work documents to pull
pertinent information.
· Coordinate with erectors on how the job is to be built in the
field.
· Coordinate with the customer to help ensure we are providing a
complete package with a thorough understanding of the project schedule
and project specific requirements.
· Responsible for estimating project/job/contract costs.
· Responsible for quantity take-offs of structural steel and
miscellaneous metals.
· Responsible for effective budgeting and other pre-bid services
with customers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this duty, an individual must be able to perform and direct
others on each essential duty.
· Must have a minimum of one years’ experience estimating of
structural steel fabrication jobs.
· Able to work with people in situations involving critical lead
times, budgets and deadlines.
· Must have good mathematical and statistical skills needed for
evaluation of data, computation and calculations.
· Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out
detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
· Detail oriented, focused and attention to details.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
· Ability to read and understand all construction plans and
drawings related to structural steel.
· Microsoft software applications including MS Windows, Excel,
Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Emphasis on the ability to manipulate
Excel spreadsheets.
· Experience with PDF review / editing software (Bluebeam,
Acrobat)
· Ability to use CAD Programs
· Experience in Fabtrol or Fabsuite is a plus
· Related construction experience is an asset
EDUCATION:
2 Year Technical Degree
EXPERIENCE:
· Minimum 1 year of experience in estimating relating to
structural steel fabrication
· Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
