    Job Description It takes 80 million CPU hours, 500 million files and 350 TB of data to make a Dreamworks Animation film.  Our studio is leveraging microservice architectures with a variety of underlying data stores to handle the scope and scale that is required of film production.  The Data Services team is responsible for the architecture, deployment and ongoing operational support of the underlying Databases for our services.  It is part of a larger DevOps team that is leading the industry in cutting edge technologies in the Cloud Native space. Dreamworks is currently searching for a manager to lead its Data Services team.  The Data Services Manager will work with database administrators, project management, service developers and site reliability engineers to support a large scale, distributed, fault-tolerant platform in support of stateful services on demand. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manage a team of DBA engineers while enhancing individual career development and growth.
    • Oversee the team’s on-call tier-2/tier-3 break-fix support for production services while adhering to best practices
    • Actively facilitate continuous process improvement within the team
    • Produce, own and maintain the team’s roadmap as it pertains to the Organization, Studio Platform Department and Data Services team’s needs.
    • Responsible for the overall planning, execution, delivery, and success of technical projects
    • Track and communicate the progress of projects and team health to internal stakeholders and the leadership team
    • Vendor management and license renewals as it relates to Data Services team
    • Develop a deep understanding of team’s stateful architecture and systems (legacy and current gen Database-as-a-Service)
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications ● 5+ years of relevant work experience managing DBA and platform engineers. ● Articulate and personable with strong spoken and written language skills. ● Ability to communicate effectively with non-technical audiences. ● Ability to work independently and collaboratively. ● Responsible, self-motivated, and highly dependable. ● Strong team player with a customer service orientation. ● Ethical, honest, fair and of high integrity. ● Sound knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, Cassandra, Couchbase, ElasticSearch). ● Experience managing teams that leverage cloud-native technologies and architectures (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift). ● Experience with managing stateful applications on Kubernetes ● Strong understanding of distributed systems and stateful applications. ● Experience managing teams in operational production support ● Proficiency in revision control and DevOps best practices (Git). ● Expert Linux experience (Red Hat, CentOS). ● Must submit an attestation disclosing your COVID-19 vaccination status and, if partially or fully vaccinated, submitting your vaccination record no later than 7 days following commencement of employment. ● Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at the commencement of employment or adhere to enhanced protocols in select work settings or where jurisdictionally mandated. ● Must be willing to adhere to all Company COVID-19 workplace safety policies and protocols. Desired Characteristics ● Experience with public or private cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, OpenStack). ● Familiarity with continuous integration/deployment tools and platforms (Spinnaker, Drone, Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform). ● Familiarity with Application Performance Monitoring and/or distributed tracing (AppDynamics, New Relic, Jaeger). ● Natural leadership skills. ● Broad and deep knowledge of operations and relevant technology stacks with an ability to learn quickly.
