    GENERAL LEDGER ACCOUNTANT

    WHAT YOU'LL DO

    The General Ledger Accountant is responsible for daily accounting activities of both the financial and management account of the hotel in accordance with G.A.A.P. This position is also responsible for general accounting and assisting in the maintenance of the organization’s overall accounting systems, procedures, and policies. This Position Reports to the General Ledger Manager.

    ROLES EXPECTATIONS

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:

    Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements and support the month-end closing process.

    Prepare journal entries and maintain balance sheet schedules and ledgers.

    Prepare reports for management.

    Maintain proper documentation and audit evidence is organized and accounted for within the department.

    Prepare monthly account reconciliations.

    Assist in preparation, reconciliation and filings of sales and use tax.

    Adhere to deadlines, time constraints, and efficient request responses.

    Maintain Fixed Assets schedules, including additions and disposals, preparation of monthly reconciliation, and posting depreciation expense.

    Ensure accounting records and practices adhere to G.A.A.P and company policies and remain standard across all business units.

    Assist inter-departments with financial statement review, discrepancies, and inquiry research.

    Handling guest complaints and reporting any hotel control issues.

    Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field and/or experience.

    1-3 years prior experience, preferably in the Hospitality Industry.

    Intermediate knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word)

    Intermediate/Strong knowledge and experience with Workday and Lease Accounting.

    Ability to exercise professional discretion, judgment, and confidentiality.

    Ability to gather, synthesize, and analyze data and draw logical conclusions.

    Strong professional written and verbal communication skills

    Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.

    Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents, such as technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

    Ability to respond and adapt quickly to changing work situations and environments.

    Ability to obtain and maintain full knowledge and understanding of Company and department rules and regulations, policies, and procedures.

    At least 21 years of age.

    CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    Must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Must be able to work under time constraints and within established deadlines.

    Must regularly lift and/move up to 10 pounds, and must have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment and exposed to various environmental factors such as but not limited to noise, dust and smoke.
