    Eastern Environmental Solutions, Inc. is actively seeking a full-time Drilling Department Manager to join our team.

    For Compliance purposes for NYS transparency, the expected salary range is $130,000 - $150,000 per year.

    Compensation will be based on experience, license and other factors permitted by law.

    The Department Manager will be responsible for overseeing and directing all administrative, scheduling, and technical aspects of assigned Drilling Projects, as well as, responsible for direct interaction with clients, meeting project deadlines, managing and meeting project budgets.

    Employment Responsibilities:

    The Drilling Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the administrative functions of the Drilling Department, including reviewing complex projects, and providing technical advice to employees and managers.

    Must have a thorough understanding of Environmental and Geotechnical Drilling Services.

    Hiring of personnel for the drilling department.

    Perform soil, groundwater and rock sampling and soil classification in accordance with ASTM standards

    Advance test borings using various drilling techniques such as mud rotary, direct push, sonic, hollow stem, air rotary and rock coring.

    Provide clear and effective communication (verbal, written and electronic) with EES Managers and clients

    Be the project liaison with clients, and project managers

    Review project documents, contracts, instructions, and budgets as well as coordinate scheduling and implementation of projects.

    Perform site reconnaissance and layout exploration locations with GPS equipment. Communicate with onsite personnel, evaluate utilities, access points, and terrain issues and communicate issues to the project team. Adjust field layouts with client based on site conditions.

    Coordinate underground utility clearing tasks and discuss concerns with the project team. Have ability to read project plans, utility maps and understand utility issues prior to drilling. Prepare One Call notifications and follow up on responses.

    Manage field teams and review collected data for completeness and accuracy.

    Review data, produce site maps and GPS data, prepare soil boring logs, review rock cores, review asphalt cores, concrete cores, infiltration test data, GPS and prepare reports.

    Perform field logging and drill rig inspection as required and verify EES driller compliance with industry standards and project objectives. Daily communication with drill crews on progress and issues.

    Coordinate schedules and assist in tracking and keeping projects on schedule. Additionally, coordinate site access and site work with facilities as needed.

    Understand drill rig capabilities, drilling methods, drill rig functions and mechanical aspects and requirements for drilling work. Support and manage drill teams, equipment, and general shop operations.

    Responsible for purchasing drilling equipment.

    Maintain open lines of communication with EES and Clients to deliver exceptional service.

    Candidate Qualifications

    Have ability to read project plans, utility maps and understand utility issues prior to drilling

    Must possess an Associates or Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology, Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or related area of study. Alternately 10 years or field experience with increasing responsibilities will be accepted in lieu of a college degree.

    Minimum 10-years of experience in the geotechnical industry, geological fields, or with project management experience is required.

    Proven track record of developing new clients.

    Subject to Pre-Employment Drug and Alcohol screening and Random Testing.

    Strong organizational and planning skills.

    High proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word and Excel),

    Strong written and communication skills.

    Strong problem solver with critical thinking skills

    Team and safety focused.

    40 Hour Hazwoper and NYC Site Safety Certificate are required.

    Work Environment

    Work will be performed in an office, shop, or outdoor setting throughout the year. Outdoor work occurs in all seasons and, all weather conditions and extremes.

    Work hours are variable throughout the week and vary based on job schedules, locations, and requirements.
