Share Food Program (“Share”) is the leading hunger relief organization in the Greater Philadelphia region and one of the largest independent food banks in the nation. Share feeds hundreds of thousands of individuals each month—more than half of whom are children and seniors. The ripple effects of the pandemic, record rates of inflation, and critical cuts to government assistance benefits have plunged even more people into hunger and poverty. Philadelphia has the highest rate of poverty of any major city in the U.S., and food insecurity is a public health crisis. Our network of caring volunteers, dedicated professionals, and generous donors works to bring nourishing food to our neighbors in need.

Since 2022, the need for Share's services has increased by 120% and the need will only increase with the passage of recent legislation. Share is committed to being at the forefront of advocacy fighting against these policies and ensuring everyone has access to food. Funding for advocacy and expanding its major donor program are strategic goals for Share. Furthermore, Share has successfully completed two stages of its capital campaign to expand and revolutionize its Philadelphia warehouse headquarters at the heart of Share's operations, to help more neighbors in need.

Position Overview

Share Food Program is looking for a Truck Driver to add to our team immediately. This driver will be responsible for making deliveries and pick-ups within the Philadelphia Region from the Share Food Program Warehouse to our partner organizations and sites.

Core Responsibilities

• Make deliveries to Share Food Program partner pantries
• Pick up or transfer product as needed at sites around the city
• Unload deliveries at sites using pallet jack
• Stay accountable by using delivery management tools on phone provided by Share
• Assist with loading and unloading the delivery vehicle using a manual pallet jack, electric jack, or forklift
• Utilize OnFleet/Google Maps to locate delivery drop-offs
• Direct the driver when parking in tough spots, particularly when backing in
• Collect signatures as acknowledgment of product delivered and promptly returning Bills of Lading to the warehouse
• Effectively communicate with clients, relaying any concerns to Share management
• Report all delivery-related problems to warehouse dispatch team including rejected product, late deliveries, accidents, etc.
• Connect with the warehouse dispatch team to notify the driver of any changes to routes
• Keep truck beds free from debris (sweeping after shift)
• Pack, restack, and wrap pallets
• Sort donations/damaged food
• Sweep/trash removal on warehouse floor, bailer
• Ensure that all safety policies and procedures are adhered to
• Additional duties as required

Skills and Competencies

• Proven experience working in warehousing, manufacturing, or production
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong work ethic
• High emphasis on customer service
• Ability to meet deadlines and arrive within appointment windows
• Ability to use phone programs to update delivery status and confirm deliveries

Qualifications

• Valid Drivers License- CDL Certification Preferred
• Experience driving a truck outside of initial training period
• No major incidents in the last 12 months
• NO Preventable accidents within the last 36 months
• NO Clearinghouse violations
• NO more then 1 speeding ticket within the last 3 years
• NO cell phone violations within the last 3 years

Physical Requirements:

• Sitting, walking, standing
• Regular heavy lifting – up to 60 lbs. at a time
• Ability to be trained on electric pallet jack and/or forklift

Environmental Risks:

Position includes potential exposure to loud noises and warehouse environments up to 75% of the time.

COMPENSATION

Hourly Rate $20.00 per hour
