We are hiring an experienced Driver / Professional Mover to support both residential and commercial moving projects throughout the Richmond area. This position is ideal for individuals with 2–5 years of professional driving experience who are committed to safety, customer service, and teamwork. As a Driver, you will safely transport customer belongings, office furniture, equipment, and materials while assisting with all aspects of the moving process.
The ideal candidate has experience operating commercial vehicles, enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in delivering exceptional customer service. This is a physically demanding position that requires lifting, loading, unloading, and safely moving items weighing up to 100 pounds throughout the workday.
Position Summary
The Driver / Professional Mover is responsible for safely operating company vehicles while completing residential and commercial moving projects for customers throughout the region. This role requires 2–5 years of professional driving experience and the ability to safely transport household goods, office furniture, commercial equipment, and other materials while following all DOT, FMCSA, and company safety regulations.
Drivers are responsible for completing vehicle inspections, loading and securing cargo, protecting customer property, and providing outstanding customer service on every job. This position combines professional driving with hands-on moving responsibilities and requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.
Key Responsibilities
Driving & Transportation
- Safely operate company vehicles in accordance with DOT, FMCSA, and company safety policies.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns immediately.
- Safely load, secure, transport, and unload household goods, office furniture, equipment, and other customer property.
- Ensure all loads are balanced and secured to prevent damage during transportation.
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and safe operation of assigned company vehicles.
- Practice defensive driving and comply with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
- Maintain accurate vehicle inspection reports and required transportation documentation.
Residential & Commercial Moving
- Perform all aspects of residential and commercial moving, including packing, unpacking, loading, unloading, lifting, carrying, transporting, and placing customer belongings.
- Safely move office furniture, cubicles, commercial equipment, household furniture, appliances, and fragile items.
- Disassemble and reassemble furniture, workstations, office equipment, and household items when required.
- Protect floors, walls, elevators, doorways, stairways, and customer property throughout each move.
- Follow work orders, job scopes, and Crew Leader instructions to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently.
- Utilize moving equipment including dollies, hand trucks, furniture pads, straps, ramps, and other material-handling equipment.
Customer Service
- Provide exceptional customer service throughout every move.
- Communicate professionally with residential and commercial customers.
- Address customer questions and concerns courteously and professionally.
- Notify the Crew Leader immediately of any damages, delays, or customer concerns.
- Represent the company professionally at every customer location.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA, DOT, and FMCSA regulations.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Utilize proper lifting techniques and safe material handling procedures.
- Immediately report accidents, injuries, vehicle damage, or unsafe working conditions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Complete accurate daily timesheets.
- Charge time to the correct job assignments.
- Complete all required job documentation and transportation paperwork accurately.
- Maintain accurate records for vehicle inspections and daily job assignments.
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of professional driving experience is required.
- Previous experience as a Driver, Commercial Driver, Moving Driver, Delivery Driver, Route Driver, or Transportation Driver is required.
- Previous experience with residential and commercial moving is strongly preferred.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Reliable attendance and dependable work ethic.
Minimum Requirements
- Active DOT Medical Card is required.
- Candidates must bring their active DOT Medical Card to the interview.
- Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 100 pounds throughout the workday.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work including repetitive lifting, loading, unloading, packing, and moving furniture and equipment.
- Willingness to work overtime and occasional overnight assignments when business needs require.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Compensation
Pay: $20.00–$24.00 per hour, based on experience.
Work Schedule
- Monday–Friday
- Start Time: 7:00 AM
- Employees work until the day's assignments are completed.
- Overtime available as needed.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required based on customer projects.
Reporting Location
Employees report to this location each morning before traveling to assigned residential and commercial job sites.
Dress Code
- Steel-toed boots are required.
- Shorts are permitted.
