    About Bach to Rock Herndon

    Bach to Rock (“B2R”) is a modern music school where students of all ages learn to play the songs they love, build confidence, and perform. At Bach to Rock Herndon, we offer private lessons, group classes, bands/ensembles, early childhood programs, camps, and events. We combine structured instruction with performance opportunities in a professional, high-energy environment.

    About the Drum Instructor Role We are hiring a Drum Instructor to teach private lessons (and occasional small groups) to students ranging from beginners through advanced. The ideal candidate is reliable, professional, kid-friendly, and confident teaching strong fundamentals (time, technique, reading, coordination) while keeping students engaged and progressing.

    What You'll Do

    Teach 30- and 60-minute private drum lessons (and occasional small groups).

    Build lesson plans tailored to each student’s age, level, goals, and musical interests.

    Teach core fundamentals: time/feel, coordination, technique, reading, dynamics, grooves, fills, and repertoire.

    Prepare students for recitals and performance opportunities.

    Communicate professionally with parents/guardians and adult students regarding progress and practice expectations.

    Maintain consistent weekly availability and reliable attendance.

    What We're Looking For

    Strong drum proficiency and the ability to teach beginners through intermediate levels (advanced a plus).

    Experience teaching drums and/or leading youth programs, OR meaningful performance experience with the ability to teach.

    Comfort working with kids and families; clear communication and professional demeanor.

    Reliable transportation to our location.

    Ability to commit to a consistent weekly schedule, especially weekday afternoons/evenings and Saturdays.

    Schedule & Pay

    Part-time, hourly (lesson-based schedule; hours vary with enrollment).

    Peak hours: weekday afternoons/evenings and Saturdays.

    Pay is tiered based on education and experience:

    Tier 1 (Entry/Developing): $17–$18/hr

    Tier 2 (Established): $18–$20/hr

    Tier 3 (Advanced/Specialist): $20–$22/hr
