    DUMBARTON ARTS AND EDUCATION (FORMERLY DUMBARTON CONCERTS/INNER CITY-INNER CHILD) Founded in 1979, presents programs of artistic and educational excellence throughout many communities of Washington, D.C. We showcase a diverse selection of established and emerging musicians in the intimate and acoustically rich Dumbarton Church for listeners of all ages. For the youngest students living in under-resourced neighborhoods, our education program improves children's cognitive and social-emotional development, uplifts, and inspires using the transformative power of the arts.

    ABOUT THE POSITION:

    DUMBARTON ARTS AND EDUCATION seeks a part-time program and marketing assistant to primarily support its education program, Inspired Child whose mission is to place low-income pre-school children on the road to literacy and future success by empowering their educators to use the arts to teach academic and social-emotional skills. Other program and marketing support will be dedicated to communicating the new name of the organization and promote its concert series.

    The ideal candidate is an advocate for racial equity and equal access to education, and they believe in working toward the ideal that all children in Washington, DC have the right to receive high quality, early childhood education. The candidate must have high level organization skills, be able to work with a diverse team.

    The role of part-time Program and Marketing Assistant requires both time in the office assisting with program administration and time off-site assisting with programs and getting to know the children, teachers, and families Inspired Child serves.  Most marketing work will take place remotely.

    The Program and Marketing Assistant will also support Dumbarton Arts and Education name change marketing efforts and assist in promotion of Dumbarton Concerts.

    • § RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop and Manage Dumbarton Arts and Education social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn;

    • Create content schedule, post content, and collaborate with Dumbarton Arts and Education staff on content ideas;

    • Update websites hosted on Squarespace

    • Develop, edit and catalog content including photo and video assets

    • Regular virtual meetings with staff for collaboration. (expect 2 per day);

    • Additional tasks may include drafting press releases, proofreading and coordinating the distribution of marketing materials, and assisting with audience engagement activities,

    • Other administrative duties as assigned including scheduling, writing contracts and correspondence.

    • Reports to the DEA Executive Director

    • § REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Excellent communications skills including writing at a very high level;

    Knowledge of industry standards for social media;

    Proficiency in social media platforms;

    MS Office; including but not limited to Word, Sharepoint, Excel, Power Point, graphic design, Google suite, video editing, social media, MailChimp, Squarespace, Zoom, Microsoft Teams

    Knowledge of the Arts and Education

    • § PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    B.A. in English, Journalism Communications, or a related area or equivalent.

    COMPENSATION:

    $22 per hour. 8-12 hours weekly by mutual agreement.  Independent Contract.
