    Job Description

    This is an exceptional opportunity for a leader dedicated to the provision of progressive and goal-oriented supports in the community for people with developmental disabilities.

    Dungarvin is hiring a Program Coordinator to support people with developmental disabilities in our Day Program located in Long Beach! The people we serve in this program are referred to us by the Harbor Regional Center, a nonprofit private corporation that contracts with the State of California Department of Developmental Services to provide or coordinate services and supports for people with developmental disabilities. This is a community-based training program with an emphasis on seeking and maintaining employment opportunities. Candidates will have a desire to create a lasting positive impact on people's lives and enjoy coaching, mentoring, and encouraging others to reach their goals.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Assist the Program Director in maintaining consistency in programming
    • Carry out the responsibilities and duties of the Direct Support Professional (DSP) during all direct care shifts when necessary
    • Individual care
    • One-on-one training of staff
    • Communication with staff and interdisciplinary team members at their primary site
    • Individual finances

    • Educational/Vocational programs
    • Documenting and follow-up of individual and program related issues such as ISP reports
    • Health care and nutrition
    • Facility management

    The program coordinator reports directly to the Program Director

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Be at least 21 years of age
    • Valid Drivers License
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent training in working with developmentally disabled adults and/or equivalent experience
    • Have basic computer knowledge

    Preferred but not required:

    • At least 2 years of prior experience in this (or related) field
    • Have prior experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, such as intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, autism, epilepsy
