  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    In this PAYROLL ADMINISTRATOR role, you will be responsible for the preparation and processing of semi-monthly payroll for approximately 700 employees; review and ensure accuracy of approved timesheets; track and deduct all garnishments and other payroll deductions. You will have the opportunity to work on the following:

    • Track and review all elements impacting gross wages to include overtime premium and shift differentials.
    • Responsible for the coordination of efforts between payroll, human resources, and other departments to ensure proper maintenance of employee data, including benefits and 401(k) withholdings and remittances.
    • Handle the administration of the Deltek Time and Expense electronic timekeeping system. Coordinate onboarding and offboarding activities with Human Resources, including employee setup, validate programs for each employee's charges, monitor submissions of approved timesheets, ensure valid data while creating, editing, and submitting payroll files.
    • Assist employees with timesheet questions regarding timesheet access, project numbers and labor codes.
    • Establish/maintain employee records; ensure that employee changes are entered correctly and made on a timely basis; review changes for proper authorization and adherence to VMD and DoL policy, including compliance with federal/state/local regulations.
    • Ensure payroll related General Ledger accounts are accurate and reconciled regularly.
    • Prepare Federal & State payroll tax deposits and returns ensuring all are filed timely and accurately.
    • Manage and Track all non-tax related deductions including garnishments, 401k, FSA and health insurance premiums.

    EXPERIENCE NEEDED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

    • Five years plus experience with all aspects of internally managed corporate payroll systems and functional job duties
    • Experience with Service Contract Act (SCA) Government contracts and payroll considerations
    • Excellent skills using MS Word and Excel
    • Experience and strong working knowledge of Deltek / Costpoint is required
    • Strong skills using and understanding the flow of transactions in an integrated and automated payroll accounting system.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.
    • Excellent problem solving/judgment skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
    • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines.
    • Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
    • Ability to pro-actively address and resolve issues or problem areas.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills - work with others both within and outside the department to address and resolve issues.
