    Job Description

    The Duopoly Executive Producer for NBC 5 ( KXAS) and Telemundo 39 (KXTX), the NBCUniversal-owned duopoly in DFW, are seeking a strong, bilingual journalist to help lead our duopoly’s 10PM newscasts. This person will oversee editorial and logistics decision-making to ensure we are leveraging all duopoly resources. The right candidate will focus on winning breaking news, weather and original content. We want someone who will encourage the team to produce engaging and compelling storytelling on multiple platforms. The ideal candidate will know how to motivate and manage a team in producing a show that is a great marriage between in-depth content and viewer advocacy. We’re looking for an energetic leader who loves late newscasts, embraces taking risks and wants to create an innovative product that stands out in the market. The ideal candidate knows how to effectively inspire and support a team, be a consistently high performer, and deliver clear direction and feedback each and every day.

    Responsibilities:

    • Work with news staff to produce relatable news that has the greatest impact on people’s lives.
    • Make coverage decisions with a priority on what’s breaking, new or looking ahead.
    • Approve rundowns and newscast scripts.
    • Direct and deliver production elements on a deadline.
    • Review daily line-up of stories and segments; develop future segments, stories and interviews for all platforms.
    • Meet daily with staff including digital to review resources, content and coverage plans.
    • Oversee and coordinate breaking news coverage.
    • Fill in for a producer for either station, when needed.
    • Work on special projects as assigned.
    • Assist with hiring and scheduling.
    • Ensure production resources and expectations are clearly defined and communicated.
    • Possess strong news judgment within legal and ethical guidelines.
    • Have a strong attention to detail.
    • Provide feedback and coaching to newsroom employees.
    • Perform other newsroom supervisory duties as assigned by either News Director and/or Assistant News Director.
    • Foster a culture of teamwork, respect and inclusion.

    • Minimum of five years of experience producing newscasts in a medium or large market.
    • Must possess strong journalistic skills, have ability to write and edit broadcast and digital copy.
    • Bilingual Spanish/English both written and spoken.
    • B.A. degree or equivalent in areas such as Journalism & Communications, or related field

    ** Eligibility Requirements:**

    • Must be willing to work in our Dallas/Fort Worth station just south of DFW Airport

    • Must have a flexible schedule with ability to work any of a 24x7 shift and willingness to travel and work long hours and on weekends and holidays with short notice.
    • Able to work extended and flexible hours during severe weather, emergency situations and breaking news.
    • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
    • Must have a valid Driver’s License
    • Must accept Solutions as NBCUniversal’s Alternative Dispute Resolution program
