    Job Description

    The Duty Manager will provide operational leadership and strategic support for all team members at the local level and is accountable for a successful partnership between McGee Air Services and its customers. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of ground operations performance, leading safety programs, and leading an engaged, highly productive team. While using discretion and independent judgment, this role holds the ultimate responsibility for overseeing a successful operation during their working shift which includes a staff of Ops Supervisors, Leads and Agents. The Duty Manager is responsible for a direct team of Operational Supervisors that they oversee, coach, counsel, and develop.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Foster and maintain an environment and culture where the safety of our team members and customers is of paramount importance.
    • Provide in the moment coaching, counseling, and mentoring. Assess events to determine appropriate action without direct oversight, including investigations, whether to withhold from service, conflict resolution or appropriate corrective action.
    • Establish and maintain a culture that encourages open communication, and where all team members feel valued, connected, and engaged in the success of the operation.
    • Recognize and celebrate individual and team performance.
    • Ensure the daily operational playbook is running effectively and efficiently and as needed drive ongoing continuous improvement while reporting daily KPIs.
    • Investigate and report delays, irregularities, safety and compliance concerns, share lessons learned, and develop solutions for future prevention.
    • Prepare necessary improvement plans, plan and execute initiatives, and coordinate efficient monthly/quarterly team member work schedules under only general supervision.
    • In partnership with Facilities and Equipment Manager, or Station Manager, execute the equipment and facility policy/procedures, and make recommendations for and execute improvement.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and all regulations of federal, state and local airport authorities. Conduct audits and observations to ensure compliance with company and customer policy and expectations.

    • College course work in related fields preferred
    • Three (3) years of airline experience with proven skills in station operations, including one of the following areas: passenger service, cargo handling, fleet service, or ground operations required
    • One (1) year of previous supervisor experience required
    • Ability to use initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
    • Professional work ethic and demonstrated ability to work with all work groups while addressing people courageously, directly and candidly
    • Proven ability to direct the work of others in a positive way
    • Strong leadership ability with a genuine desire to help others
    • Able to lead and successfully communicate with a diverse workgroup and other internal departments
    • Ability to obtain and maintain airport security clearance, customs seal, and/or USPS security clearance including background criminal history check, drug screen and fingerprinting required by specific work assignment
    • Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to work with and maintain confidential information
    • Ability to maintain reliable attendance
    • Flexibility to work varied shifts, weekends, holidays required
    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Must be at least 18 years of age
    • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

    Additional Information

    _Physical Demands & Work Conditions _
    Lifting/Carrying: Ability to frequently lift, push, pull, and carry baggage and cargo weighing up to 50 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 75 pounds or more. This often involves lifting items onto raised surfaces or into confined aircraft bins.

    Movement:

    • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, squatting, crawling, and twisting for extended periods (up to 8-hour shifts or more).

    • Ability to climb stairs/ladders and work in cramped or high places.

    • Manual dexterity required for handling documents and operating equipment.

    Driving/Operating Equipment: Must be able to operate various ground support equipment (GSE) such as tugs, belt loaders, and baggage carts, which requires a valid driver's license and the physical capability to do so safely.

    Vision/Hearing: Clear vision (including depth perception and peripheral vision) and hearing are required for monitoring flight information, communication via radio/headsets, and safety compliance in a noisy environment.

    Outdoor Exposure: The job is performed primarily outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow.

    Noise and Environment: The work environment is very noisy, near active aircraft engines and ground support machinery, and may involve exposure to fumes, dust, and other airborne particles. Hearing protection is usually provided and required.

    Physical Capabilities Testing
    This position requires significant physical agility; you may be required to complete a Physical Capabilities Test post offer that will demonstrate your ability to:

    • Lift, carry, and place weighted standardized boxes, suitcases, or duffel bags from floor height to overhead.
    • Climb steps carrying weighted standardized box, suitcase, or duffel bags.
    • Sit and rotate to the left, right, and behind and visually identify a letter or number.
    • Pull a weighted sled a standardized distance.

    Union Information
    This position is part of a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Per the CBA, work schedules are awarded based on seniority. New hires are awarded their initial shift based on operational need. Therefore, the company cannot guarantee certain days off.

    $55,277-$55,277 per year
