POSITION DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Staff Accountant - AP Date: June 2024
Reports To: ****Accounting Mgr. ****FLSA: Exempt
Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, cash position, and other related financial activities.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Review, approve, and enter all accounts payable invoices into the company’s ERP system (Epicor).
· Work closely with purchasing and department managers to properly record expenses related to raw material inventory, outside service contracts, shop maintenance, and SG&A.
· Ensure that effective controls are in place related to expense recognition and cash disbursement.
· Control over the disbursement process including ACH, wire, check, and online banking transactions.
· Reconciles bank accounts, verifies activity online, and addresses inquiries from banks.
· Implement process improvements as well as automation within the various accounting functions.
· Perform account reconciliations on various general ledger accounts.
· Assists with closing the books monthly following a tight timeline and with a high degree of accuracy.
· Maintain 13-week cash forecast and daily banking spreadsheet in Excel.
· Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
· Files tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies related to sales and use tax, CAT tax, annual 1099’s, and annual business filings.
· Assist with accounts receivable activities as needed (D&B reports, customer credit limits, collections, invoicing, cash posting)
· Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
· Performs other related duties and prepare ad hoc reports as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities:

· Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
· Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and computerized accounting systems.
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor or associate degree in accounting, or related field, required.
· One to three years of related experience required.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
