    Job Description

    The E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center is seeking an experienced SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER to lead overall social media strategy and execution, including content, community, and analytics. You will work with the Biophilia Center’s team, including President Paul Arthur and Vice President of Development Cindy Eisaman, to grow the nonprofit’s social channels and optimize them for storytelling, marketing, and fundraising. You will run organized campaigns as well as daily social activation to create buzz, relevance, and loyalty. The ideal candidate will have experience managing and building a medium to large social media presence and bring personal enthusiasm for connecting and engaging with a social audience.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience managing comprehensive marketing projects
    • Excellent written, oral, and communication skills
    • Proficient with Canva, Microsoft Office, and Constant Contact
    • Team Player – no task is too small or too big
    • Proactive thinker and problem solver
    • Self-motivated and resourceful
    • Photography/videography experience is a plus

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Responsible for content planning, from ideation to creation, across social platforms and content types within those platforms (feed vs. story vs. reel)
    • Conceptualize and execute creative, relevant content on a daily/weekly basis to align with social media calendar, nonprofit goals and objectives
    • Own strategy for improving engagement and reach, including testing of frequency, timing and content type optimization to keep improving social performance
    • Plan ahead about upcoming social media needs surrounding events, activities, or “national days” of celebration
    • Engage with local community to develop partnerships and recognize regional marketing opportunities
    • Write and distribute press releases
    • Photograph animals and animal handlers for optimal online exposure
    • Work with VP Development to create content for fundraising campaigns

    Company Description

    The E. O. Wilson Biophilia Center, located in Freeport, Florida, provides free environmental education to Walton, Okaloosa, Bay, Holmes, and Washington County students with a concentration in STEM subjects. Each year, the Biophilia Center educates over 6,000 students in a five-county area and averages more than 100 students every school day. Students who visit the Biophilia Center learn about the natural environment through interpretive exhibits as well as an extensive trail system through our 55,000 acre nature preserve, Nokuse Plantation. In addition to educating schoolchildren and the public, the Biophilia Center recently expanded with the addition of an overnight summer camp program – Camp Longleaf. The E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center operates under the auspices of Nokuse Education, Inc., a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
