    Job Description

    JOB PURPOSE:

     The Purchasing Manager position will oversee the entire day-to-day operations of purchasing of the raw and packaging materials. The Purchasing Manager is responsible for optimizing the inventory planning and material costs within the company’s policies, budget. This role requires a high ability to balance inventory targets and maintain forecast accuracy. This position is a key liaison to resolve supply issues, ensures the efficient delivery of inventory, service, and cost objectives.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Works directly with suppliers to manage and reduce cost and improve payment terms.
    • Work with the Production and Sales Team to provide accurate forecasts for each material as applicable.
    • Follow strictly the guidelines for Vendors Certification maintaining all pertinent records in place.
    • Evaluate and provide up-to-date usage trend information and analysis
    • Ensure that appropriate levels of inventory are in stock. 
    • Monitor, minimize, reduce and eliminate overstock and obsolete inventory
    • Ensure accurate costs records for each Item
    • Responsible to resolve all invoice discrepancies
    • Analyze, identify, recommend and implement purchasing strategies and inventory management techniques.
    • Gain an understanding of and monitor market conditions for critical commodities used in the business to determine both timely buying opportunities and risk
    • Manage vendor relationships, including the addition of new vendors, track performance and communicate vendor performance with management.
    • Develop detailed perspective (e.g. competitive, market, trend, economic and financial analysis).
    • Leads contract negotiations and/or the resolution of contract issues.
    • Develop associate’s skills by conducting training as required. 
    • Implement sourcing strategies to ensure supplier quality, delivery, lead time, and cost performance goals are met by commodity
    • Conducts commodity specific competitor and industry analysis to identify cost, material selection, and sourcing to improve the company's competitive procurement and supply chain position

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in the related field, Master’s in supply chain is preferred 
    • 5 years SAP experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment
    • 7 years of increasingly responsible experience in purchasing, preferably in the bedding industry.
    • Strong understanding of quick turn customer and distribution dynamics and requirements.
    • Proven leadership and ability to drive constructive change.
    • Must possess excellent negotiating skills. 
    • Ability to build effective relationships internal and external to the organization
    • Analytical - Uses intuition and experience to complement data.
    • Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, and Word
    • Problem Solving - Works well in group problem-solving situations.
    • Project Management - Communicates changes and progress.
    • Quality - Looks for ways to improve and promote materials and service quality.

    • Hands-on experience developing supply chain related processes, procedures, KPI’s etc.

    DIRECT REPORTS

    Directly supervises the activities of personnel engaged in buying and receiving of materials. Will have daily interaction with personnel in all areas of the Company.  

    WORK PLACE & TRAVEL

    Office in Rancho Cucamonga with travel to Company locations and suppliers (10%).
