    COOK Job Description

    E.A.T. w/Culinary Professionals Inc. is looking for a Cook at its Whitestone location. A successful Cook will be a skilled multi-tasker who can follow food safety codes and produce high quality meals.

    E.A.T. w/Culinary Professionals Inc. delivers creative food experiences by offering quality goods, innovative services, culinary workforce training and hospitality management with a specific focus on economic development in NYC.

    Responsibilities

    The Cook’s responsibilities include preparing ingredients, making sure sufficient supplies are always available, and cleaning after each shift. Requires preparation of food for special diets and keeping records for cooking operations. May involve some on-site catering in addition to food service.

    Washes, slices, chops, grates, stirs, kneads, measures, mixes, and cooks food by boiling, steaming, roasting, or baking according to standard menus

    Set up workstation with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment

    Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.

    Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen

    Prevent cross contamination

    Ensure all food and other items are stored properly

    Check quality of ingredients

    Washes stoves, grills, countertops, pots, pans, and cooking surfaces

    Follows directives from Food Service Managers to run the kitchen efficiently

    Plans cooking schedules to have food ready at serving time

    Requirements

    Previous experience as a Cook in a commercial kitchen preferred/minimum 2 years

    Knowledge of all food safety and sanitation procedures

    Capacity to stand for long hours

    Ability to follow directives from leadership team

    Ability to work in a team; willingness to work with others with enthusiasm and respect

    Particularly good communication skills

    Must have NYC Food Sanitation Certificate

    Excellent organizational and time management and multitasking skills

    High school diploma or equivalent

    Punctual and able to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays as asked

    Ability to lift and carry at least 50 lbs. without assistance

    Commitment to the production of high-quality outputs and excellent customer service.

    Candidate must be up to date with the Covid-19 vaccination and must possess a NYC Food Handlers Certificate
