    E.A.T. w/Culinary Professionals Inc. delivers creative food experiences by offering quality goods, innovative services, culinary workforce training and hospitality management with a specific focus on economic development in NYC.

    E.A.T. w/Culinary Professionals Inc. has a Cafeteria Associate position at the South Beach Mental Health Center in Staten Island, NY. A successful Cafeteria Associate will be a skilled multi-tasker who can follow food safety codes and produce high quality meals, keep work area clean and sanitary, handle cash/credit card transactions, extend excellent customer service. The Cafeteria Associate must be able to perform in every area of the cafeteria with confidence.

    Responsibilities

    Prepares and serves sandwiches, salads and other cold food items.

    Obtains daily production schedule and preparation requirements from Food Service Manager.

    Prepares sandwich meats, cheeses, condiments and salads using approved production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control.

    Stocks and replenishes deli/cold products, baked goods, and condiments following approved merchandising guidelines.

    Carries pans, kettles and trays of food to and from workstation, stove and refrigerator.

    Stores food in designated areas following HACCP standard wrapping, dating and rotation procedures.

    Places meat, cheese or vegetables on cutting board and cuts slices to designated thickness.

    Interacts with coworkers to ensure compliance with company service standards.

    Maintains clean, safe work environment to comply with sanitation and safety requirements.

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    Manage transactions with customers using cash registers/POS system.

    Scan goods and ensure pricing is accurate.

    Issue receipts, change or tickets.

    Cross-sell products and introduce new ones.

    Resolve customer complaints, guide them and provide relevant information.

    Greet customers.

    Track transactions on balance sheets and report any discrepancies.

    Requirements

    Proven ability to perform excellent, professional customer service

    Available to work a variety of shifts including weekends

    Must have a Food Handler’s Certificate

    Able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment

    1-3 years’ previous food preparation experience preferred

    2-5 years’ work experience as a Cashier or in a similar role in sales

    Basic PC knowledge

    Familiarity with electronic equipment, like cash register and POS

    Good math skills for counting cash, measurement and scale functions

    Familiarity with electronic equipment, like cash register and POS

    Strong communication and time management skills

    Customer satisfaction-oriented

    Ability to work independently and as part of a team

    Knowledge of specialty and prepared foods preferred

    Must be able to meet physical requirements of standing, twisting, bending, repetitive motion and lifting 10-50lbs regularly

    Must be at least 18 years of age

    Minimum Education: High School Diploma

    The following tests/vaccine are needed for the clearance.

    Tuberculosis screening - need 2 sets of PPD or Quantiferon TB gold test (blood test) if any of these test is positive, need a chest x-ray.

    Influenza immunity (flu vaccine).

    MMRV panel, Hepatitis B panel. (blood test).

    Varicella Zoster virus antibody (chickenpox).

    Proof of having received the Covid-19 vaccine.

    Part Time/Full Time: The cafeteria is open five days per week 6:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (Shifts available Monday - Friday)

    Range of Pay: $15.00 to $22.00 per hour.
