A Los Angeles custom antique reproduction furniture and décor manufacturer is seeking a Designer - R&D and Sourcing Specialist to join our team of production professionals and artisans, for the product development of new furniture and décor. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of product development in furniture, décor and accessories, sourcing materials, and have established vendor relationships that they can leverage in this position.

The Designer - R&D and Sourcing Specialist is instrumental in maintaining manufacturer-vendor relationships and acquiring new manufacturer-vendor relationships that are more efficient and cost-effective. This position will be responsible for sourcing all materials necessary through all stages of product development and final production. They will develop and outsource product manufacturing through the use of Asian and European vendors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work closely with Creative Director during the design, prototyping, and approval process for new product development to ensure that the end result satisfies the original design vision. • Provide support for Export Control & Customs (ECC) Classifications and for Customs compliance issues. • Ensure full compliance with Import and Export regulations according to Customs regulations of US government and its agencies, in addition to the company’s internal control policies. • Develop and maintain strong productive relationships with local and overseas vendors • Actively research new manufacturing entities, techniques, trends and best practices, and apply this information for both internal and outsourced production • Maintain an up to date project log that accurately identifies the product and vendor of each item • Generate purchase orders, control logistics, and track orders to completion and delivery • Manage quality control issues of all incoming product and vendor relationships • Manage and maintain inventory on all samples • Complete special projects as needed or requested • Other duties as assigned
