  • Responsibilities

    Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of operations and strategy for Nonprofit. This includes managing staff, expansion efforts, grant writing and the overall execution of the organization's mission. The ED will develop extensive knowledge of the field, core programs, operational procedures, and business plans.

    Onsite is required at least one day a week. The schedule is flexible but most work is conducted during normal business hours.

    Responsibilities:

    Leadership & Management:

    • Ensure the highest standards of grant writing and grant administration through comprehensive evaluation and quality control measures. Provide guidance on finance, administration, fundraising, communications, and systems. Recommend appropriate timelines and resource allocation to meet strategic goals.

    • Cultivate strong relationships with volunteers, board members, event committees, alumni, partner organizations, and funders, actively engaging and inspiring them in the work for the Nonprofit.

    • Foster a strong relationship with Board of Directors, acting as ex-officio of each committee. Encourage active board participation in setting both local and national strategic directions.

    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performance team members.

    • Establish effective systems to monitor scaling progress and regularly evaluate program components. This will enable accurate measurement of successes for reporting to the board, funders, and other stakeholders.

    Fundraising & Communications:

    • Diversify and expand revenue generation and fundraising efforts to support current operations and regional expansion, while simultaneously managing existing building debt.

    • Enhance the organization's communication efforts, from web presence to external relations, in order to strengthen the brand and increase awareness.

    • Leverage external presence and relationships to create new opportunities for the Nonprofit.

    Planning & New Business:

    • Execute a strategic business plan for national expansion, overseeing the program's entrance into new markets.

    • Establish partnerships in new markets, building relationships with funders, political figures, and community leaders at each expansion site.

    • Enhance local and national presence by publishing and sharing program results, highlighting the accomplishments of the local program as a model for replication on a regional and national scale.

    The ideal candidate will have significant leadership experience in a nonprofit or similar setting, with a strong background in program management, fundraising, and strategy development. Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders are essential.

    Qualifications

    The ED will be thoroughly committed to the Nonprofit's mission. All candidates should have proven leadership, coaching, and relationship management experience.

    Specific requirements include:

    Advanced degree, ideally an MBA, with at least 10 years of senior management experience; track record of effectively leading and regionally and/or nationally scaling a performance- and outcomes-based organization and staff; ability to point to specific examples of having developed and operationalized strategies that have taken an organization to the next stage of growth

    Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation

    Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget

    Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships

    Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures

    Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills

    Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning

    Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
