    Medical Physicist

     The VA Radiation Oncology Services are accredited by ACR and follow the standards & guidelines set forth by American College of Radiology (ACR). As such any Contractor providing on-site radiation oncology services must adhere to all the American College of Radiology Guidelines & Technical Standards for Radiation Oncology: A contractor providing on-site radiation oncology services must provide evidence the radiation oncology practice meets or exceeds the American College of Radiology Guidelines for Radiation Oncology.

    The physicist must be familiar with personal computers, have adequate typing skills to perform data entry (progress notes and physician orders), and be able to navigate through windows-based computer programs. The medical centers utilize a computerized medical record system. Training on the computerized system will be provided by the medical center.

    SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Follow and meet all policies, performance measures, rules and regulations.
    • Function as a full team member of the interdisciplinary team, serving patients at the facilities.
    • Participation in the facilities PEER review process, including the external review.
    • Shall provide Quality Assurance reports and attend quarterly Radiation safety meetings
    • Patient Safety to include incidents and radioactive material
    • Administrative duties 10% of the time
    • Use of the following modalities: IMRT, IGRT, Stereotactic Radiosurgery and/or StereotacticRadiotherapy

     

    Work Hours:

    Monday through Friday 7:00am – 4:30pm

    Requirements:

    • Medical Physicists must be Board Certified in Medical Physics or Therapeutic Medical Physics by the ABR and maintain licensure with the Board of Licensure for Professional Medical Physicists
    • Current Active Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Active professional license in any US state. All licenses held shall be full and unrestricted
    • Must have a degree in Medical Physics
    • Minimum of 5 years experience
