  • Responsibilities

    Our client is an established manufacturer in Spartanburg, South Carolina. We are seeking an EHS Manager to lead environmental, health, and safety initiatives across a high-hazard manufacturing operation. This position will play a key role in maintaining a strong safety culture, reducing risk, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting continuous improvement across the facility.

    The ideal candidate has 5+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment, strong people and communication skills, and the ability to influence employees and leaders at all levels. Experience with ISO 14001/45001, regulated waste, machine guarding, robotics safety, and heavy manufacturing is highly valued.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead and continuously improve EHS programs, policies, and compliance initiatives.
    • Identify and prioritize risks to employees, the environment, and company property.
    • Maintain a strong floor presence and engage with employees, operations, and leadership.
    • Lead injury/incident investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and workers’ compensation cases.
    • Develop and conduct safety training for employees at all levels.
    • Track EHS metrics and lead risk-reduction and cost-control initiatives.
    • Manage environmental compliance, including stormwater, wastewater, SPCC, and regulated waste.
    • Oversee wastewater treatment and maintain ISO 14001 certification and sustainability requirements.
    • Lead internal audits and serve as the primary EHS representative for SCOSHA, SCDES, Spartanburg Water, ISO, and other external audits.
    • Provide EHS leadership for capital projects, new processes, equipment installations, machine guarding, robotics, presses, cranes, and other high-hazard equipment.
    • Partner with operations and leadership to drive change, continuous improvement, and new manufacturing processes.
    • Manage site security, including onsite security personnel.

    Required Qualifications

    • 5+ years of EHS experience in a heavy manufacturing environment
    • Experience with South Carolina Workers' Compensation requirements
    • Experience managing regulated waste streams and environmental compliance
    • ISO 14001 internal auditor certification
    • Growth and continuous improvement mindset

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial Safety, Engineering, or a related field
    • Union manufacturing experience
    • RCRA or hazardous waste training/certification
    • Professional EHS certification
    • Machine guarding and/or robotics safety experience
    • ANSI B11 and/or ANSI/RIA R15 training
    • Overhead crane and forklift safety experience
    • Wastewater treatment experience
    • Capital project management experience
    • Industrial hygiene monitoring experience
