    EMJAYE INSPIRED BARISTA AND CATERING EVENT SERVICES

    ASSOCIATE JOB DESCRIPTION

    Emjaye Inspired is a full service San Diego Catering company specializing in custom, handmade gourmet pastries and desserts, multi-course meals and reception events. We've combined high end food preparation & presentation with unmatched customer service guaranteeing your next event will exceed all expectations.

    Our location in Scripps Ranch has several beautiful event spaces, a small café grill and coffee house all on site. We are currently looking for a part time afternoon / evening coffee house associate to join our team. The position will require some scheduling flexibility as shifts in the café grill, other events and catering staffing needs will be necessary at times.

    POSITION: PART-TIME

    COMPENSATION: $20/HR

    (introductory pay subject to change based on performance during or after 90-day probationary period)

    WORKING HOURS: M-TR: 2 pm-8 pm in the Coffee House / / M-SU: Events are TBD based on client needs]

    Maintaining a flexible schedule is necessary and will be dependent on event and corporate account needs.

    (Position will be M-TR with the exception of the occasional weekend and or after hours on-site or off-site event)

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

    CUSTOMER SERVICE

    Candidates must be proficient in assisting customers before and after purchases, satisfying customer needs, questions, and/or concerns in a courteous and proficient manner.

    Must have the ability to listen and communicate respectfully, promptly, and effectively with both team members and customers.

    Preferred Experience: 1-2 years in a customer service position handling a variety of specialty foods and beverages.

    BARISTA/COFFEE EXPERIENCE

    Candidates must be able to serve beverages such as drip coffee, espresso-based drinks, teas and other specialty beverages.

    Proficiency and/or prior understanding of automatic espresso machines is preferred.

    Prior knowledge and understanding of coffee origin, types, uses, etc. is also preferred.

    Preferred Experience: 1-2 years in a customer service position preparing and serving a variety of coffee, specialty and tea beverages.

    FOOD SERVICE & SAFETY EXPERIENCE

    Candidates must be able to prepare, store and serve basic foods and beverages in accordance with proper food handling and temperature compliance regulations.

    The ability to properly operate and assemble catering equipment (i.e. sternos, chafing dishes, serving dishes, etc.) at varying events.

    Candidates with a valid California Food Handler Certification and/or Barista Training Certifications are preferred.

    Preferred Experience: 1-2 years in a food & beverage setting with experience in basic preparation, serving, and/or cooking food safely and hygienically. Previous experience in catering and/or banquet service is also preferred.

    EXPERIENCE WITH CASH HANDLING & POS SYSTEMS

    Proficiency and/or prior understanding of POS systems, more specifically Square POS.

    Preferred Experience: 1-2 years in a customer service position handling monetary transactions and/or working with Point of Sale (POS) Systems.

    BASIC KNOWLEDGE, PHYSICAL & MISC. REQUIREMENTS

    Candidates must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs, unassisted.

    Must be able to bend, lift, stretch, stand for prolonged periods of time, walk, and use stairs while on the job.

    Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean record and be comfortable with driving Emjaye Inspired company vehicles.

    Educational Requirements: High School Diploma, some college preferred.

    Keen attention to detail and the ability to work in an expeditious manner without compromising quality. Candidates must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while simultaneously delivering exceptional customer service.

    Exhibiting proficiency in organization, time management, cleanliness while delivering products in line with company standards.

    Adhering to the provided daily, weekly, and as needed task sheets provided by the direct supervisor.

    Handling monetary transactions with both cash and POS systems will require candidates to have a basic knowledge and understanding of mathematical concepts.
