Job Description

We are seeking a WordPress / PHP Developer responsible for front-end and backend development. This position requires a combination of programming skills (namely PHP, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript) and aesthetics (understanding element arrangements on the screen, the color and font choices, and so on). The candidate should have a strong understanding of industry trends and the WordPress content management system. Experience with responsive and adaptive design is required.

The developer will be responsible for implementing and supporting unique creative designs on sophisticated client websites and for contributing to the ongoing development and maintenance of the platform.

Responsibilities

· Designing and implementing new features and functionality

· Establishing and guiding the website’s architecture

· Working in a team environment and willingness to jump in and assist in other areas to get the job done

· Ensuring high-performance and availability, and managing all technical aspects of the CMS

· Helping formulate an effective, responsive design and turning it into a working website

· Reviewing and approving plug-in updates

Skills and Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience with a preference for a computer science related field

· 4+ years’ experience with WordPress related technologies – mostly as part of a development team

· Knowledge of and/or experience with the Genesis Framework

· Experience hosting and managing multiple sites using WPEngine

· Experience with writing Sass while using a task runner like Gulp

· Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications

· Experience designing and developing responsive design websites

· Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc.

· Ability to understand CSS changes and ramifications for consistent style across platforms and browsers

· Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages

· Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git or SVN

· Attention to detail in regard to coding standards and code formatting

· Experience with React on WordPress

· Experience interacting with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML)

· Experience with Bitbucket or GitHub repositories

· A strong desire to learn new technologies and keep up with industry trends
