    Job Description

    A. POSITION WORK REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Must be skilled and experienced in the planning, engineering, installation and start-up of the application of DDC control systems as applied in commercial and industrial heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems including chillers (reciprocating and centrifugal), boilers (steam and hot water), refrigeration systems (medium and low temp) and air handling units (packaged and custom).

    2. Must be proficient in planning, layout and integration of DDC controls into all inter-related electrical, electronic and control sub-systems on commercial and industrial systems. Must be proficient with Visio 2003.

    3. Must prepare all required submittal drawings for control systems and schedules.

    4. Must coordinates commissioning and testing procedures.

    5. Must be proficient in designing Building Automation Systems based on engineering project plans, specifications and contract documents.

    6. Must be proficient in managing a broad range of projects and technical diagnostic services in the electrical, mechanical and electronic areas on medium to large-scale HVAC control systems.

    7. Must be articulate with good written and oral communications skills. Must be capable of providing owner and in-house training on DDC control / HVAC systems.

    8. The ability to work unsupervised and coordinate ongoing work is paramount.

    9. Must have excellent customer relations.

    10. Must provide detailed record keeping on all projects including file start-up, maintenance and close out.

    11. Requires on-call duty to provide emergency management services to customers.

    12. Familiarity with specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.

    13. Ability to provide technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters to relate technical knowledge to a non-technical audience.

    14. Strong understanding of the fundamentals of commercial electrical, HVAC and control theory.

    15. Demonstrated knowledge of automated temperature controls, building automation systems and other building subsystems.

    16. Strong understanding of low voltage electrical wiring.

    17. Experience in engineering, design, or maintenance of HVAC systems.

    18. Five years plus experience working for a controls company (engineering, field technician, job start-up and service).

    19. Be available to travel 30-40%, and work with customers and contractors in commercial retail facilities.

     

    B. PRIMARY SKILLS/DUTIES:

    Design/Implement Engineering submittal standards

    1. Experience providing assistance to field technical technicians to diagnose and resolve technical problems.

    2. Highly self-motivated and decisive

    3. Strong mathematical and analytical skills

    4. Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel

    5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    6. Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others

    7. Must be detail-oriented

    8. Excellent problem-solving skills, especially as it relates to real world field conditions

    9. Ability to work effectively/efficiently to meet strict deadlines

    C. EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

    Associate’s degree in electronics technology is required, with a bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline preferred.

    In lieu of bachelor’s degree, a combination of verifiable DDC specific training and five (5) or more years of experience will be considered.

    D. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    Five (5) to eight (8) years’ experience in temperature controls design in the commercial HVAC/controls field is preferred.
