    Job Description

    POSITION TITLE:

    EMT - Disaster Response Team

    POSITION IDENTIFICATION:

    Reports to: Disaster Response Team Leader

    • Seasonal, PRN
    • A drug free workplace

    COMPENSATION:

    • Hourly Rate: $21.50-$24.50
    • Predicted average day rate $400-600
    • Overtime is paid as required by law according to the job being performed
      • Unscheduled overtime must be approved by a supervisor prior to actual occurrence
    • Mileage reimbursement - mileage reimbursement must be approved before any actual mileage expense is incurred. Deviation may result in denial of mileage reimbursement.

     

    SCHEDULE: 

    • Non guaranteed and dependant on fire deployment requests
    • Deployments: 14-21 days (not including travel), 16 hours a day starts after check in at ICP for deployment

    POSITION PURPOSE AND SUMMARY:

    EMSU Wildland staff are there to support the needs of requesting agencies for wildland fires.  There are 3 different teams that staff will be requested under:

    • LINE MEDIC
      • Assigned to a task force on the fire line
      • Hiking with a task force and assisting where needed. Be available for any medical emergencies within task force team
      • Attend daily medical leader check ins and task force debriefs
      • Complete communication check in as required
    • AMBULANCE
      • Assigned to a fire line task force and staged somewhere within the task force region. Will stay with the ambulance for staging
      • Available in case of emergency and a transport is needed from the region
      • Attend daily medical leader check ins and task force debriefs
      • Complete communication check in as required
    • REM
      • Assigned to a task force on the fire line
      • Attend daily medical leader check ins and task force debriefs
      • Complete communication check in as required
      • Assist task force teams in regions with any technical rescues or transports

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • The employee must perform all job responsibilities in a manner that protects patient privacy:
      • The employee is expected to protect the privacy of all patient information in accordance with EMS Unlimited Privacy Policies, procedures, and practices, as required by federal (and state) law, and in accordance with general principles of professionalism as a healthcare provider. Failure to comply with policies and procedures on patient privacy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination or employment.
      • The employee may access protected health information and other patient information only to the extent that is necessary to complete your job duties. The employee may only share such information with those you have a need to know specific patient information you have in your possession to complete their job responsibilities related to treatment, payment or other company operations.
      • The employee is encouraged and expected to report, without the threat of retaliation, any concerns regarding policies and procedures on patient privacy and any observed practices in violation of that policy to the designated Privacy Officer.
      • The employee is expected to actively participate in Company privacy training and is required to communicate privacy policy information to co-workers, students, patients and others in accordance with Company Policy.

    THE EMPLOYEE MUST ALSO:

    • Be a team player, as EMS is a team effort, and providers must provide necessary assistance to ensure work area sanitation, readiness and adherence to quality assurance standards;
    • Be flexible - work shift schedule may vary, and the start and shift times may vary due to the nature of the business;
    • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of applicable current standards of care, including equipment functions and uses;
    • Assure that all certifications, licenses and registrations are up-to-date; 
    • Be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation; and
    • The employee conducts themselves in a courteous, helpful, dignified and professional manner at all times when dealing with patients, co-workers, supervisors and or the public.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Pass arduous pack test (If you completed with another agency within 6 months, you can provide documentation to fulfill this requirement)
    • Attend EMSU fire camp annually
    • Complete a fire shelter deployment (Will be completed at fire camp)

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS:

    • National Registry EMT 
    • Complete S-190, S-130, S-110, and L-180.
    • Complete ICS-100 and IS-700

    RECOMMENDED TRAINING (BUT NOT REQUIRED):

    • IV Certification
    • 233 Fire Line Paramedic Course
    • Low and/or high angle rope rescue (Required for REM Team)
    • UTV and four wheel drive experience (UTV training required for REM team)
