    The Math Interventionist/ESL Coordinator will assist in administration of math intervention program, while providing support to teachers, campus leaders, and district administrators aimed at improved outcomes for English language learners. and coordinate assigned student activities and services; complying with state law and regulations, as well as district, agency, and campus policies affecting schools, daily attendance, punctuality and confidentiality.

    Essential Functions:

    Maintain confidentiality of client/agency information as required by State and Federal laws, appropriate regulations, and professional practice.

    Ability to communicate effectively in written and/or verbal form to elementary students, parents, members of the public, and staff.

    consistently demonstrate and communicate EOAC’s Mission and Vision.

    Participate in development and evaluation of educational programs to maximize student achievement in math. Encourage and support development of innovative instructional programs through data analysis, helping teachers pilot such efforts when appropriate. Promote the use of technology in teaching/learning process.

    Assess and identify students throughout the school in need of math intervention.

    Refines curriculum that supports the teacher in meeting the unique needs of the EL student; analyzes data to monitor and measure student progress; determines formative measures to provide timely feedback to teachers and administration regarding student progress.

    Consults frequently administrators and classroom teachers on matters relating to quality instruction.

    Collaborates with the Principal and Assistant Principal to recommend adoption and use of varied instructional materials including textbooks, reference works, kits, trade books, audio-visual aids, and software to support EL students.

    Supports and assists in implementing the programs.

    Fields questions from all staff regarding and provides response to inquiry in a timely manner.

    Supports the campuses with LPAC compliance as per TEA guidance.

    Monitors TELPAS collection of writing samples and audits 10% of samples to ensure validity and reliability of ratings.

    Monitors and collects data on assessments and uses the analysis of the data to determine support from demonstrated student needs.

    Promote a positive, caring climate for learning for elementary students.

    Design and implement math academic interventions using research base methodology.

    Differentiate instruction based on assessment data

    Design interventions and write lesson plans detailing methods and materials; Help teachers diagnose math strengths and weaknesses and match these skills with appropriate techniques and materials.

    Model instructional best practices with students for the purpose of teacher observation.

    Document interventions and progress on each child

    Refer students for alternative services as provided by the District (ESL, Special Education, etc.)

    Teach students in a pull-out setting for reading, and mathematics, as needed. Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.

    Help students and parents analyze and improve study methods and habits.

    Participate in professional development to improve skills related to job assignment.

    Facilitate, participate, and provide campus staff development.

    Attends special events held to recognize student achievement, and attend school-sponsored activities, and functions.

    Perform other duties as assigned.

    A high level of attention to detail and accuracy.

    Intermediate skill and familiarity with Microsoft Office Applications: Word, Excel and Outlook.

    Must have effective presentation of information and strong spoken language skills.

    Ability and desire to work with elementary school students from an at-risk population, as stated in the Waco Charter School charter.

    Ability to maintain confidentially of student records, charter school records, and other sensitive student data.

    Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation as it applies to the district’s bilingual, ESL, and advantage language programs.

    Knowledge of bilingual and ESL program models, practices, techniques, and principles

    Knowledge of second language acquisition theories and strategies

    Knowledge of recommended, research-based instructional practices and resources contributing to student achievement as reflected by STAAR and TELPAS results.

    Skill in disaggregation and interpretation of data

    Comply with the Code of Ethics for Texas Educators.

    Knowledge and experience with classroom implementation of rigorous curriculum and instructional strategies in mathematics and second-language acquisition.

    Work Environment

    This job operates in a school environment with ambient lighting, and climate control.

    This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

    The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.

    Lift and carry up to 40 pounds.

    Maintain emotional control under stress.

    May be required under specific circumstances to provide physical restraint of students in danger of causing harm to themselves or others.

    Exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise, low or intense illumination. Occasional exposure to biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, etc.).

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Minimum of three years of successful public-school experience as a teacher in math or ESL.

    A bachelor’s degree.

    Valid Texas Teaching Certificate EC-6, and ESL certification.

    Must be able to pass Criminal History check including FBI fingerprint and DFPS background check. Candidate must have a satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee.

    Must pass all pre-employment contingencies including post-offer pre-employment physical, and alcohol and drug screen.

    Travel:

    Ability to travel when required.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Bilingual Spanish Speaker.

    Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum or a related field.

    Other Duties:

    Perform all other duties as deemed necessary by the Principal or Executive Director.

    Work Schedule:

    This is a full-time position. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
