    General Responsibilities:

    The Early Childhood Education Field Advisor is an integral part of the HS/EHS Team. Under the supervision of the HS/EHS Program Director,.

    and in accordance with related Head Start Performance Standards and other regulatory agencies, the Early Childhood Education Field Advisor is responsible for supporting all activities related to classroom and home-base services.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, OR A baccalaureate or advanced degree in any field, at least 18 credit hours in early childhood education, and experience teaching children in the age range of 0-5.

    Have knowledge and experience in the philosophy and practices of Head Start (or comparable child development programs), early childhood education and developmentally appropriate practice.

    Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and Child Care Licensing regulations.

    Effective verbal and written communication, flexibility, organization, and the ability to work well with others.

    At least two years experience in a direct supervisory role in an early childhood setting or a setting working with young children or youth.

    Ability to use desktop computer and telephone on a frequent basis.

    Should possess a working knowledge of local community resources related to specialty area

    Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer and office equipment, including, but not limited to the telephone, fax machine, and copier.

    Computer literacy including database and Windows computer programs is essential

    Current enrollment in the Child Care Division, Criminal History Registry and FBI fingerprint clearance is mandatory

    Must have a valid Texas Driver’s license

    Must have a negative TB screening results

    Must be physically fit to lift 25 pounds

    Specific Responsibilities:

    Ensure that approaches to meet or exceed Head Start Performance Standards, Learning Outcomes Framework, School Readiness goals and objectives and Child Care Licensing Standard requirements are met for all Head Start and Early Head Start Center and the Home-Base option.

    Oversee timely completion and quality of work presented in documents, paperwork and reports including lesson plans, screenings, individual child education plans and ongoing assessments.

    Monitor compliance with home-visiting and parent teacher conferencing requirements.

    Assist in supporting compliance with mandated reporting, including child abuse and neglect and unusual incidents for each center site and home-base.

    Assist Site Managers and Teachers in developing lesson plans and implementing strategies that will address the individual needs of children.

    Support Site Managers in conducting classroom and individual observations and interpretations of education activities, including lesson plans, IEP, IFSP, etc.

    Assist in developing systems that support best practices related to classroom and child development.

    Review and approve field trips and nutrition projects ensuring appropriateness of content.

    Conduct ongoing monitoring and evaluation of program services including reports on child assessment data, CLASS observations, ECERS and ITERS observations.

    Periodically review children’s files to ensure that staff members are utilizing observations, assessments, individualizations, individual education plans and lesson planning to provide children with comprehensive education programming.

    Work with HS/EHS Management Team to develop and coordinate services and to develop and revise program policies and procedures as necessary and in accordance with the Office of Head Start guidance.

    Monitor implementation of school readiness transition activities and assist with coordination of services for children from EHS to HS and from HS to kindergarten.

    Assist in evaluation of Classroom staff to ensure goals, objectives, action plans, policies, and procedures for the disabilities and mental health service areas of the HSPS is followed

    Assist in developing professional growth and development strategies and trainings based on ongoing monitoring and assessment.

    Assist in establishing and improving management systems which support compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and other related regulations.

    Provide supervisor with weekly schedule of center visits and notice of center compliance issues that require immediate attention.

    Complete monthly reports that identify progress in both group and individual child achievements related to school readiness goals for Head Start and Early Head Start.

    Participate in meetings to staff individual child/family.

    Attend staff training and meetings and Policy Council and parent meetings as requested.

    Assure that files and documentation are complete, accurate, and confidentially maintained.

    Order materials and supplies necessary for the provision of services to Head Start/Early Head Start enrollees including children with diagnosed disabilities.

    Assist with development and delivery of pre-service and monthly in-service training for HS/EHS staff.

    Continue professional growth by participating in training programs and workshops/conferences.

    Support and promote team-work, ongoing communication and problem solving.

    Must travel within and out of county.

    Other duties as assigned
