    General Responsibilities:

    It is the responsibility of all EOAC employees to support EOAC’s mission and goals, to respect the confidentiality of all who come to us for information or assistance, and to personally maintain the dignity and integrity of one who is placed in a position of public trust.     The Community Services Program offers a wide range of services, including the Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (CEAP), to income-eligible community members; ensuring they can pay their bills during difficult financial times, while connecting them to resources that help them transition out of poverty and into self-sufficiency.

    Essential Functions:

    Maintain confidentiality of client/agency information as required by State and Federal laws, appropriate regulations, and professional practice

    Ability to communicate effectively in written and/or verbal form to individuals and/or groups with a clear and concise explanation of CEAP processes and services.

    Must consistently demonstrate and communicate EOAC’s Mission and Vision.

    Maintain confidentiality of confidential/sensitive customer materials, data and information.

    Must consistently demonstrate excellent customer service with a compassionate attitude towards all clients. Assess customer needs and coordinate resources to assist clients in crisis situations and vulnerable circumstances.

    Assists clients with applications in-person, online, or over the phone.

    Processes applications and/or interviews to determine income eligibility for emergency assistance programs, collects all documents required by EOAC and adheres to Federal and State requirements; prioritizes applications to provide clients with timely services; contacts vendors to determine crisis need, fuel type, validity of vendor choices; and prepares and provides clients with a schedule of yearly assistance within 30 days.

    Creates utility payment vouchers for processing, ensuring all required back-up documentation is available and follows accounting office directives; utilizes program data entry procedures as required by CEAP and CSBG contact to make accurate and timely documentation of all services delivered; contacts utility vendors on behalf of clients to make pledges/create holds to ensure continued utility service or to restore utility service.

    Maintains customer files in accordance with CEAP and CSBG contact standards.

    Provides timely feedback to the agency regarding service failures or customer concerns.

    Process assistance for other grant-funded services as needed and as customers are eligible, such as: emergency rental assistance, water bill payment and other services as available through the Community Services Program.

    Competencies:

    Must have good organizational skills and proven ability to work within timelines to meet demands. Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks.

    Intermediate skill and familiarity with Microsoft Office Applications: Word, Excel and Outlook.

    Participate in team activities, mandatory meetings and trainings, and meet the service delivery standards set forth by the Community Services Program and EOAC.

    Provide Information and Referrals to other EOAC services and/or other community services as need by applicants.

    Ability to work independently with flexibility within a team environment; ability and willingness to work as a team member to support EOAC’s mission and goals.

    Maintain excellent professional relationships with vendors, and community partners.

    Work Environment

    This job operates in a professional office environment with ambient lighting, and climate control.

    This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

    Prolonged sitting.

    This job works with clients who are in high stress situations; ability to de-escalate tense situations is necessary.

    Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear customers in-person, and over-the-phone.

    The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

    This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed. This position may require walking primarily on a level surface for periods of time as well as reaching above shoulder heights or below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday. Proper lifting techniques are required. This position may occasionally lift up to 25 pounds for files and computer printouts.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Must be currently enrolled in a Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Human Sciences or other related Associate’s, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program.

    Must be able to pass Criminal History check.

    A valid Texas driver’s license or ID card is required.

    Must be able to pass pre-placement physical assessment.

    Travel:

    Minimal in-state travel as required for visiting sites in the nine counties the program services.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Bilingual (Spanish)

    Other Duties:

    Perform all other duties as deemed necessary by the CEAP Director or Executive Director.

    Work Schedule:

    This is a part-time intern position. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
