About Puentes de Salud:
Puentes de Salud works with Latine immigrant communities in and around the Philadelphia area through high-quality healthcare, social and wellness services, and educational programming. The Puentes de Salud Education branch serves youth ages 3-18 and their families through out-of-school-time programming that centers multilingualism, academic support, and exploration of creative and cultural practices.
The ESL program will be in partnership with the Children’s Crisis Treatment Center (CCTC), working with their international employees.
Position Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced ESL Teacher to collaborate with our Education Supervisor in delivering English language instruction tailored for professionals working at the Children’s Crisis Treatment Center. This role focuses on enhancing English proficiency in the context of psychology, behavioral health, and crisis intervention, enabling staff to communicate effectively with clients, families, and colleagues. In this position you would assist the Education Supervisor with developing a beginner ESL curriculum and contributing to the development of weekly lesson plans and materials.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in assessing participants' language proficiency and progress, providing feedback to staff.
Availability to attend all program dates
Co-plan and co-deliver ESL lessons integrating behavioral health terminology and real-world scenarios into language instruction.
Be able to run a lesson plan without a co-teacher when needed
Provide targeted language support to ensure staff can accurately interpret and communicate complex information.
Evaluate language proficiency through assessments and provide constructive feedback to help staff improve their English communication skills in a professional setting.
Administer and create course evaluations
Contribute to overall program evaluation and growth through on-going reflection and feedback.
Qualifications:
Previous ESL education experience required.
ESL Certification required.
Ability to co-teach and run a lesson plan.
Previous experience teaching adult classes is a plus, but not required.
Demonstrated organizational and multitasking abilities to assist with program coordination and administrative tasks.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Sensitivity to cultural differences and a commitment to fostering inclusivity in the learning environment
Foster an inclusive learning environment that respects and incorporates diverse cultural perspectives, enhancing communication with clients from various backgrounds.
Program Schedule:
Meet with the Program Supervisor before the first day of programming to solidify lesson plans and prep for the course. (TBD; depending on ESL teams schedule)
The program will run from January - March
Class exact dates are Tuesdays between January 13th to March 17th
Class times 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm
Supervision with Education Supervisor once a week for one hour (Time and day TBD)
Programming will take place at the Children’s Crisis Treatment Center
