The Application Engineer works within the engineering design group to provide engineering support and overall technical service to customers. Through the application of expertise in elastomer material science, sealing theory, and access to the internal ESP design and testing teams, this engineer matches and customizes ESP products to improve the performance of our customers’ applications.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
1ST MONTH:
1. Shadow Engineering roles, sales and supply chain, 16h each
2. Learn our company, departmental key initiatives and thrusts
3. Complete general training on sealing theory and products
1ST QUARTER:
1. Study elastomer material science and seal design theory under the supervision of a senior engineer. Basic/advanced level: rotary seals, static seals, hydraulic seals
2. Begin to interact with customers on technical projects with support from the Engineering Manager, Lead Application Engineer in conjunction with a Regional Sales Manager/Business Development Manager
3. Travel to domestic partner-supplier technical centers to receive product-specific education

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors's degree in Mechanical Engineering is most common although all ABET accredited B.S.E. degrees will be considered.
Demonstrated ability to perform in a fast-paced, cross-functional dynamic workplace with common goal is required. Familiarity with pressure situations and how to handle them in a professional business manner also required.

· Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret complex documents such as financial statements, contracts, and procedure manuals. Possesses high level business writing skills. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of ESP.
· Quantitative Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, graphs, and proportions to practical situations.
· Critical Thinking: Able to display high level reasoning skills in order to solve multiple, complex situations.
· Technical Skills: Advanced Computer Skills. Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and Database systems.
